Tracktion sampler

I've been using Ableton lite 4 (free bundle with my m audio firewire audiophile) just for the sampler. They call their sampler version "simpler". It has adsr, time stretching, modulation and can be combined with effects quickly for sound design all within Live's window.

Most people really prefer Live for sponaneous beat creation and the built in "impulse" drum machine is great for this. Given the time-stretching and more, Live makes a very good partner for Tracktion.

Live slaves to Tracktion well using rewire but I prefer to use "Jack" to route the simpler's audio into Tracktion. I'm no great keyboard player but still prefer to play a sampler directly this way. I work fast and prefer to edit audio files over midi. This also saves some cpu load compared to triggering samples from midi while editing. Beats and rhythm beds obviously work better with the programs rewired together.

I purchased the audiophile new in box on ebay for 125.00. Not a great deal for just the "simpler" sampler but considering that I needed an interface and knew Live 4 had some useful features and was bundled, I'm happy.
