I don't use automation that much, so I love to see the new feature.

I'm just rendering the tracks with Filterscape...so I'm ready

hi urs,
please improve VA, cause I´m using live with a midicontroler and I neeeed to record automation data!
thanks!!

Do what you need to do to improve filterscape.
I'm sure we will all be happy with the results.

Looking forward to the upgrade

So far it's 108 votes for "yes" and 1 vote for "no".

Which way do you think the decision will go? When does the poll close? I can't bear the tension

Derek.
Less than 1000 posts and writer's block has set in :-(

I don't have any automation stored (except to test) so it doesn't really bother me that the structure would change.

I do like the idea of having every parameter available to modulate though - would it be possible to stick the more esoteric parameters, like the arpeggiator stuff, at the end?

Hehehe, it closes when it's significant! There is still enough room for late comers to turn the poll...

(although I must admit that I've already done all the changes and it's now about figuring out a migration plan for the negative vote :? )

Cheers,

If you were a politician, you wouldn't even think about it...
Great to know you aren't!

Well, for now I've thrown away a lot of really esoteric parameters. I.e. who on earth would automate the Warp Modulation Source?

I brought it down from 205 automatable parameters to 129. This way users of Live 4 and Logic 5 should be able to automate every meaningful parameter (could be that the last parameter, Chorus Mix is not in, but d'oh... one can't have it all...).

Unfortunately I have not yet managed to let the order of automatables differ from the internal structure (which is somewhat beyond 450 parameters...). I must implement this for future updates, but adding back the esoteric ones will also have to wait until it's save to have 250+ parameters automatable. For instance, there have been mysterious crashes when AUs have more than that... :?

So, for now there'll be 129 automatables in VA, and I believe that the new parameters (ArpModulator, Click & Osc1->Cutoff for the new filter types, Delay) offer a good enough playground to compensate for the loss...

... but you could still automate them with MidiLearn of course (hint: There's also a new workaround for Digital Performer so that MidiLearn is possible in there, too!)

Cheers,

;) Urs

Actually, without trying to be a prick, automating chorus mix would be nice to have.

But then, I rarely use any automation, I'd rather love to see some sort of modulation matrix, allowing you to route each and every source to each and every target. Would that be possible?

Ehm... set the Chorus to "off" and insert Logic's built-in chorus. That one is better IMHO anyway :P

A couple of Modulation Matrices come with my wireless modular synth 8)

Nah! Not as flexible! Also, I love integrating it into patches!

so, are we close? This thing sounds like it is getting better by the moment. Ahhhhh. Must go home and get music computer. Any news on MIDI learn for the effect and EQ?

Urs, I would buy you a beer, but I am at least one ocean away...

Yes, we are close! It's got uncountable impovements, some are subtle and some are pretty obvious:

Image
Delay, new filter types, general improvements, such as Preset handling and stuff...

Image
New ArpModulator - thus you can have a modulation value for each step in your rhythmic sequences / tarnce pads / etc...

So, yeah, we're close. But I need a beer NOW...

Laterz,

;) Urs
