Celeron 2.4Ghz using energyXT, I have no problems like this with other plugins...FrettedSynth wrote:>I have noticed that on some presets (e.g. Ether using "smooth" Amp)when I am not playing a note CPU goes to 100%, during playing CPU drops to ~70% , now if I stop playing CPU shoots back to 100%, also get some crackling during guitar sustain level lower than approx 30% on this preset
What CPU are you using? I will for sure have a look.

I got to tell you the plug in is very stable unless you tweak but after hours of playing never hanged.
Strange thing is after +/-3 min without use the cpu goes to 2%.
This is the raw sound I've never found on othe sims.
Great,GREAT JOB.
THANK YOU
Oops and btw the gate I guess worked better on Chimp, this has kind of modulation when very light gate setting, but, ppffff !!

Wicked... there's always room for another ampsim!
Had no problems downloading either, probably won't try it out tonight though (getting late here!).

Wow! This works for me! VERY well done.
geoffkhan's ultimate guitar kit soundfont sounds great with this sim! This has now become my main go to amp
CPU use here: P4 3.6 w/2GIG RAM = 15~20%. I can live with that.
Thank you thanks and thanks again, FrettedSynth!

>Celeron 2.4Ghz using energyXT, I have no problems >like this with other plugins...
Tested on PIII, PIV and Athlon CPUs, I know no people using a celeron CPU for
audio processing. Not saying anything bad about the celeron processor, just have
no test machine. Will take a look at the plugin again on a PIV CPU, as they seem
to not take well to denormals either.

The credit for stability is owed to Jeff, (SynthEdit) Thanks Jeff..
That is a good example of how modules are put to sleep, the only reason it takes so
long is, the structure to Free Amp SE is insanely HUGE!
When the noise gate closes modules receive no input and start to go to sleep,
The way I understand it is, from the input each module passes a signal to sleep to
the next module in series. Changing patches causes this less because it is just a
small sub structure, when the gate closes it must shut down the entire structure
in series from the noise gate to the output.
Please do not look at this as bad programming on Jeff's (SynthEdit) part, instead blame
me as like I said the structure to this amp is way to large
On the up side with what FreeAmp has taught me, I now can build an amp structure
That IMO is much better then FreeAmp and uses only 7-8% CPU on an Athlon 2400+.
FreeAmpSe uses on average 28-40% on the same machine.
There will be a very large Helian amp series coming soon.
Oh yeh! about the gate, I will look back to chimps noise gate to see what on earth I did.

It is not really a problem to me, it is only this one preset that I have problems with...just thought it would be handy for you to know.FrettedSynth wrote:>Celeron 2.4Ghz using energyXT, I have no problems >like this with other plugins...

I really love this sim, has a beautiful sound combined with Revitar 2...

Would you please offer an alternate temporary download link (not on http://fs_freeware....) for us poor people who don't have access to your site. Would be nice

my son on his P3 just called and reports unworkable cpu useage...however I think he only has 128mb of ram, he isn't sure of the speed (but I doubt it's fast, it's old)...any thoughts?

New link provided by asseca , should be avalible soon.
Thanks asseca,
>my son on his P3 just called and reports unworkable cpu useage...however I think he only has 128mb of ram
Tested on PIII 1.2gig, MOTU sound card, latencies set to 64 samples, with no break-up.
Anything smaller wont do so well Im afaid.
Still could use at least a 2gig processor
Doubt that the ram is the issue, unless he is running winXP.
Peace and thanks for the kind words from all!
