Can someone just quickly summerize my options
I've already purchesed T1 for $80.
I've DL'ed and installed T2 demo already.
Can I DL T2 with all the bundled plugs or do I have to get boxed version and then recieve a rebate from Mackie?
Is boxed version available everywhere?
Thanks for any replies.

Ok I've looked around some back pages and I've checked out
Mackie's T2 page and correct me if I'm wrong here.
I was really looking foward to RMIV.
So if I want that I have to pay $150-$60 rebate=$90
$90+$80 I've already spent=$170
So I'm spending $20 more than if I had just waited for boxed T2? Am I correct?
If so, that's a load of b.s.!

Well I'll take that as a confirmation.PT wrote:Your not supposed to point that out here in happytown.
Unbelievable! I had a gut feeling too when I first bought T1(and the only reason I did was for an attractive upgrade path to T2, or so I thought) that said just wait 'till it comes out.
Way to go Mackie!
Great way to squeeze a few more dollars out of those who had enough good faith in you long before there was one f**king ad in a magazine!
Bravo! You must be real proud of yourselves!

I know.
Search this thread. You'll find endless rants about how dodgy the whole thing is. I think the official statement is that there will be no more online upgrades for current license holders for future versions of Tracktion.
That is kinda sucky or current owners I guess. Although everybody has an opinion on the matter. The general consensus after all the arguments around here is that foreign Tracktion users seem to be getting screwed more than US owners....
I've emailed two big music dealers here in my hometown of Adelaide, Australia...and I have not received any word at all about Tracktion 2. So I'm not holding out hope.

again amazing...
You are interested in RMIV... yet you condemn Mackie for being responsible for the bump in price. Yet, if it wasn't for Mackie.. odds are RMIV would never be packaged with Tracktion in the first place. On top of that, you can't imagine paying $90 bucks for a drum VST you want... when it alone costs $150.. and comes with 1G of samples and what not.. plus the other stuff that comes with T2. I s'pose you want that for $20? again amazing.

More confusion reigns.
Just remember kids, you're not allowed to speak out against the 'M' word anymore here... *shhhhhh*

Well I don't know if this would help or even work but if you can use both rebates available to you, giving you two licences , you could sell your downloaded t1 and t2 upgrade then buy the boxed version with the $60 rebate. We havn't heard if this is possible yet but it might solve some problems around here.Dimwit wrote:Can someone just quickly summerize my options

just voicing my opinion as you do.... think about it? I could understand if he didn't want RMIV... but he is interested in RMIV which comes with 1G of samples and midi bits? So is it s'posed to be free? Yes, I don't get it. I don't understand that. Yes he could have waited for a Boxed T2. But I assume if he purchased T1, then he used it. Which means that orignal $80 was put to use. Am I the only one who thinks that makes any sense?
maybe I'm just reading things wrong.. I appologize if I am. This overall negative tone of the forum is really effecting me.. and it honestly sucks. I used to look forward to coming here, but it's now becoming creatively draining. That pretty much blows. Again, appologies if I'm reading into things wrong.

Where is that 80dollars in that equation from? The 80 bux was for T1 which you still own (and hopefully got some good use out of). If you couldnt get $80 worth out of your sequencer thats your problem. But I dont think that should be included in that equation.Dimwit wrote:

If that were the case people would say things like "I've already payed 1700 dollars for Cubase SX 3.0 when I could have just waited for the boxed version and got it for 500". Silly.

You're allowed to say whatever you want about Mackie. You're allowed to say whatever you want about Tracktion.
Heck, you can say whatever you want about me, I don't care.
What does matter is that things like this always get turned into a "I've been screwed" kind of thing. What the?!?!?!
First and foremost, there is no official word that I've seen that says that current customers won't be able to get future upgrades by download. Well, it seems to be stated as a probability above. But with no evidence whatsoever.
Second, everyone outside the US is not getting screwed. So they don't have the upgrade deals in place for you. Does that mean they won't? Well, duh! Of course not. Beno has stated AT LEAST twice here that the non-US rebates or whatever are being dealt with, and they are doing what they can. How easy do you think it is to offer things like this globally? Computer Music magazine is FAR more expensive to subscribe to for me in the states than if I lived in the UK. Is it their fault? No, it's just the way things go. There's not much Mackie can do, and what they CAN do, they are looking into. FACT!
Next, Mackie said that current T1 customers would get T2 for no more than retail with their TOTAL Tracktion purchases from T1 and T2. Well, retail is $199. You figured $170. Seems fair to me. The fact that retailers are selling it for $150 doesn't matter. And even with paying $170 overall, it's fair. You've got to use T1, which is what you paid for, and now, if you want T2, and ALL the features and plugs, you'll have to pay. And if you don't want the plugs, you can get an UNHEARD of upgrade price online of $20.
Also, do you think that Mackie was able to include all these plugs for free? Severely wrong! The plugs alone in the package, and the ones that are still to come, FAR outweigh the price you are paying. Like it was said, RMIV alone costs $150. Slayer 2 is $90. The soundfont player is $30. Amplitube LE and Sampletank SE aren't exactly free either. So stop complaining.
My point is this. It's ok to say what you want here, but at least give it a rest on bashing Mackie just because you're not being pampered. They haven't backed down on any deals, and they haven't screwed you. I'm really sick and tired of hearing people whine over and over and over and over about the same things, when it's all been heard and dealt with, or is being dealt with. I left here for a while because I couldn't stand feeling like I had to defend something that didn't need defending. Why I came back, I have no idea.

Your right Modulr
At 170 it's even a good deal.
I just have issues with the johnny-come-lately getting the whole enchilada for 150.
It just seems a bit unfair to me.
I want a all-in-one solution and the bundled T2 provides that. I figured months of salivating and getting excited might have been worth at least to match the johnny-come-latelys deal. Not bump my price up.
It doesn't make sense to me.
That's all.
I will still buy it because I almost have to.
But don't expect me to feel all Polyanna about it

It's not a big deal, but we were told repeatedly that T2 would cost T1 owners no more and probably less than T2 - T1. That the upgrade price would be no more than T2-T1, or T1 + upgrade price would be equal to or less than T2. So if T2 sells for $149 and T1 was $80, then T2 should be no more than 149-80=$69.
Many people based their buying decisions on this. Besides, it was a promise.
But it is going to cost 149-60=$89.Not a huge problem, but it bothers some people and no talk about "value", etc changes that.
And "retail is a nonsence concept. No one will pay retail. They could have just as well made retail $300 or $400 and still sold it for $149.
They claimed T1 retailed for $149. Show me just 1 person who paid $149 for T1. Retail price is just to cloud the issue.

I agree with mod, if you have bought & used T1 you got your moneys worth (in most cases).
The online upgrade is a bargain.
just might be a little shit if u are: non U.S., tried the T1 demo/NFR recently; looked at all the goodies that would be included with T2; decided to be 'supportive' & buy it (as a great deal had been promised, etc.); now one finds out that the only way to get all the 'goodies' advertised on mackies site is to but the boxed version - at full cost for way more than U.S. users, with no rebate etc. & only a promise of mackie 'looking into it', with a possibility beno has hinted at of no rebate at all.
Now, does that make any sense?
Don't wanna start the war all again, but the problem seems to me to be that all this upgrade mularkey just seems to be so uneven & thus has the potential to upset some peeps who may feel they got the shitty end of the stick.
Conversely it can also be an excellent deal depending on ones circumstances.
