It's simple, and there's no "sugar coating" this fact. If you bought T1, and actually used it, which I'm assuming anyone who wants to upgrade did use it, then you got worth from it. Plain and simple. You want T2 with all the bells and whistles? Then you gotta pay. How do you think it's fair to Mackie to give everyone the deal you're asking for? Take another $20 off for everyone? There's a reason they offer the no plug-ins offer. They realize that some may not get any use of the plug-ins and therefore will see no value. But if you are going to use the plugs, then you see value, and you will buy.

I'll say it again. Check nearly EVERY other major software developers, and most minor ones, and show me where there was a better value.

It's very common practice to have to charge this much for an upgrade. You're getting the better deal. T2 is worth $150. You get it for $90. Sounds like a deal to me. T1 was worth $80. You paid for it, and got to use it. That's the plain and simple, no sugar coating needed, truth. There's nothing that anyone can say that will change that fact. Sometimes I feel like I'm a glass half full in a forum of half empties.......

Look it's real simple.
I was under the impression that by buying T1 in the last stages right before T2 was released that there would be a discount from what a person who walks into a store and buys it pays. I'm not exactly sure WHERE I got that impression, but based on the sheer number of other disgruntled T1 uses, I guess I'm not alone in my confusion.

Turns out there is a discount if you don't include the boxed bundled plugs correct?

I was not aware of that. I thought T2 would only be available with the plugs included. In other word there would be no plugin-less T2 on the market.
So sue me if I didn't forsee that.

This gang mentality of everyone jumping down my throat and calling my analogies stupid is rediculous and un-called for.

I already said I'm GOING TO BUY IT.
The simple fact is I would've saved twenty dollars if I have waited untill it was available thru an online retailer or walk in store. I now know that. Live and learn right. If someone had told me about the MSRP discrepancy I would've waitied.
That is the only point I'm trying to make.
Nothing more, nothing less. No hidden agendas, no subtle insinuations of T1's lack of worth.

I'm just a bit ticked that Mackie won't do a price match sort of thingy to where if I show them I bought it for 150 AND that I am a registered owner of T1 that I would get the same price as Joe Schmo, not pay twenty more dollars than him. Am I really out of line with this thinking? In other words a 80 dollar discount since I already spent 80 dollars a little over a month and a half ago with the only intent to get T2(with the plugs) NOT T1

It is true that there was confusion over the availablity of an online upgrade - with a number of threads where people questioned whether a light version would be available etc.
I've just been having a look at all those all threads - so you have got a point Dimwit.

Count your blessing Dimwit, I own a paid T1 license and if I was to upgrade today to the full T2, I'd pay full price nevertheless. The latest mail I got from a Mackie rep is, and I quote, "we did look at options to give international users the same rebate, but it seems likely that it won't happens at this point".

...rrrrright...

so there ISN'T any point me waiting around for Mackie to come up with a registered T1--->boxed T2 upgrade rebate deal?

yes?

no?

Mackie?

anyone?

Dimwit wrote:Yes Mackie has honored it's agreement.
I don't think that they clearly have, actually

1. We were told that T2 would be sold "out of the box" and that it would include all the plug-ins shown in the advertising.

2. The promise was that the cost of T1 ($80) plus upgrade to T2 would be less than the full cost of T2 ($200).

This can only be acheived by giving registered T1 owners a rebate greater than $80.

Being "international" I don't yet know what the rebate will be, but it has been confirmed by Mackie people on this forum that the best-case scenario is a rebate equal to the US one, i.e. $60.

So on that basis, Mackie have in fact dishonoured their promise to all of us, whether in the US or elsewhere.

However, and this is the part where it goes "grey"... the $20 upgrade option is an absolutely awesome offer, for which I am sincerely grateful (as I don't particularly want those specific plugs).

For free - phenomenal, cos it's a nice mastering tool.
I agree with you about the quality of FInal Mix, but I would think twice about mastering in Tracktion until the rendering issues are sorted out

Yeah - i'm okay in that my soundcard (creamware pulsar) allows me to circumvent the possible issues Tracktion has when rendering.
Having said that I haven't got anything to that advanced stage anyway - i'm still just noodling through tunes & playing around with Live

yeah headquest, but you're ignoring the fact that the cost to upgrade T1 to T2 is $20.

the boxed one costs more, yes, but to upgrade T1 to T2 costs $20 and noone's denying you that. if you expected otherwise, fair enough. but you've been made an offer that's in line with what has been offered. simple.
Kick, punch, it's all in the mind.

Surely that was clear enough? :?

No, I think your missing my point...

As there is no generally available lite download version, it's impossible to say whether Mackie have honoured their promise to give us an above-$80 discount on the lite download version of T2.

In terms of the full boxed version with the advertised plugs, we can be certain that Mackie have NOT honoured their promise, because they have not given us an above-$80 discount.

It's quite simple, no?

So you were speculating. Sometimes when you speculate (gamble) you lose. Just like the stock market.

I don't think so. In fact I don't think that its available here yet, although a minority of the retailers are at least advertising that - while they won't be stocking it - special orders will be taken. Still very low key here in the UK though, in spite of some great magazine reviews.

I guess that partly puts paid to the theory that magazine hype sells software
