once a few people special order it, the stores will start to stock it.

no - i didn't buy it - but i was considering getting it for my daughter, but it has ended up costing more than i wanted to spend.
from £45-ish to around £130 (& postage & packing etc.) is too large a price hike.
You can get it from turnkey &/or digital village in the uk for around £130-ish.
Can't remember the websites & i'm at work - just google em.
by the way i was responding to a question that was l8r edited.
the matrix is shifting again it seems.

Yes, I sure hope so. It would be good to see it in all the music stores prominently displayed!valley wrote:once a few people special order it, the stores will start to stock it.

Ironically, I wouldn't be all that surprised if you don't see it in PC World before you see it on the shelves of Turnkey. Music stores in the UK always seemed to be a little tribal, and highly conservative in their buying patterns.Yes, I sure hope so. Can someone point out something before I make another purchase blunder.
The plug I really wanted is RMIV
Which scenario is better.
a)Buy the boxed T2 because it has a "full" version of RMIV and I will save money over buying RMIV for 149.
b) Spend 20 now to unlock T2 demo and buy RMIV for 149 since the boxed T2 version of RMIV is lite.

depends if you are likely to ever want to use RMIV in another host.
If not, you are probably better getting teh box, because whilst there may be nothing there you want today, who knows what might get added later.
If you do, then look at whatever deal Linplug offer for full RMIV upgrades and decided whether the difference makes sense.

So you are saying the RMIV that comes with T2 is not the exact RMIV that sells on their website for 149. Or that maybe it is but you cant use it in another host.
In other words the RMIV that comes with T2 is full, but there's a catch. You can't use it anywhere but in T2.
Whilst the RMIV I buy from their website I can use freely anywhere I want. Is this correct?

broadly correct yes.
I think a small collection of kits didn't make it into the T2 version (either for space or licensing reasons). Fundamentally they are exactly the same though, except your boxed version will be limited to Tracktion.
I understand the T2 version can be upgraded to the full retail version of RMIV, but I don't know what the price is.

The RMIV that comes in T2 apparently has around 90% of the kits of the full version. Some agreements Linplug had prevent a "choice few" from being included.Dimwit wrote: So you are saying the RMIV that comes with T2 is not the exact RMIV that sells on their website for 149. However, the MIDI files that come with the T2 bundled version are unique to T2.
As I understand it the bundled T2 version of RMIV cannot be used in another host. Which means that if you ever decide to, for example Ableton Live/FL Studio/etc - instead of or, like me AS WELL AS Tracktion, you would have to go back and buy/upgrade to the full version of RMIV.
If you are in the States it is slightly cheaper to buy T2 boxed. If you live outside the USA it is actually significantly cheaper to buy the $20 T2 upgrade and the full version of RMIV directly from the Linplug website.

There are 274 kits with the Tracktion RMIV, and about 1000 MIDI files, which as it was said, are unique to T2. I believe the ManyTone kits were the ones excluded, according to what ManyTone has said.
As with the arguing in this thread. I'm done. It's a waste of time for me to try and explain something yet again that others just see different. For the record, I do hope that Mackie can offer a deal to foreign customers. They may not be able to handle the EXACT deal, but a similar one I'm sure. Doesn't anyone understand that it's not that easy? And they couldn't have worked it out months ago since they didn't know all the plugs and didn't have all the contracts signed till the last minute. Just ask Peter at LinPlug how long it took them to get a contract. That's why they couldn't tell us. Oops, I'm explaining again.
I don't have the time nor energy. If you're pissed, I'm sorry. I hope things get better for you, honestly.

It's ok for you koolkeys because you have it in your hot little hands. Don't get all messed up just because someone else has a different viewpoint.koolkeys wrote:There are 274 kits with the Tracktion RMIV, and about 1000 MIDI files, which as it was said, are unique to T2. I think we all understand the hassles of a boxed version with all the licensing problems. But really, that's the point a lot of people are trying to make. Why choose the path of most resistance for your product?
Besides, we all know your viewpoint, so you can take a rest now

Please don't think that I'm criticizing your reason for being upset. My main argument has just been the value and the pricing, and how it's fair.
However, as I've said, I do want you to be able to get a good deal outside of the US. I do feel for you, as I've been on the other side before. Think of how many devs are outside of the US. I deal with it too.
If I'm not mistaken, it's not even available in other countries yet. So maybe that's because Mackie really is working on something, plus it usually takes some time anyway.
I understand your frustration, and I'm sorry things haven't worked out yet, but sometimes that's just the way it goes, and ya gotta wait. It would be nice if all currencies were the same and laws were the same and whatever. Here in the states, some coupons or discounts are not allowed to count in some states. It's not fair, but just the way things have become.
I accept that others may not agree, and that's fine. Their opinion is the same as mine.
I do want one thing from Mackie, for the sake of those who can't get the boxed right now. I do wish they would provide the option to upgrade the $20, then apply it towards the bundle if they so choose later, because of whatever situation. I think that would help many problems here.
Peace, ya'll......
