the drums! the f**king drums! i am having trouble finding another drum sound that hits that f'n hard. even been through my fav metal albums...nothing can hold up over all. they sound huge, but they don't eat up the mix. the kicks are thunderous, but they gel perfectly with the bass.

also getting guitars synths and distorted bass to gel together is no easy task, and this is probably the cleanest example i have ever heard.

bu the way, i definately agree, nin drums always sounds great. especially on the new Downward Spiral SACD that was just released.

I think I would have left out a couple of songs I don't like at all (Getting Smaller for example). 'Right Where It belongs' sis just superb. That moment when it suddenly metamorphosises into a live version gives me the creeps.

since i'm asking nicely though, could you point out my statements that didn't make any sense? That’s the only way I guess I’ll learn. Was it the mention of the "so-called" b7 or the mention of compound time, or the mention of “harmonic ambiguity”? Yeah, I just spewed out that BS. Thanks for calling me on it. Like I said, I’m definitely full of shit. I was just really trying to stimulate a response from some nin fans to gauge how people were feeling about the album. I was basically trying to keep the thread alive by trying to get a response out of people. If anything, this post has just shown all of you how much of an Idiot I am. I definitely know that. I don’t care. Just please feel free to offer a better method of discussing things and please correct my idiocy. Otherwise, there’s no hope. I will remain a moron.

if you disagree, that merely points to either differing standards in production or a lack of your ability to determine what is quality production and what is not. if there was a production "effect" to mimic a certain style, that's understandable but still qualifies as poor production. and it did not sit well with me, nor did it achieve some sort of effect that was worth pursuing. should you like a breakdown what I found overtly unprofessional about the production quality of the album, I'd be more than happy to provide it for you.

as for my ego writing any checks... I find that to be a dubious assertion, since I have very little in the way of self esteem or egocentrism. but I can tell you what sounds like shit when I hear it. regardless of my ability to reproduce quality aural standards on my own.

yeah if it's not too much to ask, go ahead and point out the bad points of the production please. hopefully it will prove to me that you know what you are talking about, and that trent and i should listen to your music to learn more about production. if you don't mind, please tell me what the drums need to sound better. i am going for a similar drum sound and any pointers would be great.
