Sure glad (well, you know - not **glad**) that someone else has this problem. Hopefully it can get sorted out, eh?

Post

I've never seen it when writing MIDI plugs for myself. It looks like it is an external thing.
Someone shot the food. Remember: don't shoot food!

ok, that's what I thought. We'll look into it.
Thanks,

Misery loves company :D

I've had this, or something like it, in T1 without using any external hardware.

I record some midi and when I play it back the sound cuts off at a certain point. I was going crazy trying to figure it out and found that there were 'all note off' and 'all controller off' messages in the midi clip.

I record midi using my computer keyboard, Trollo, and Hubbi's loopback. It doesn't always happen. Only occassionally.

Thanks a ton Beno. Ya know, I fired up S*n*ar last night and it really remined me how much I love Tracktion (even with these issues). I can never go back!!! :D

Just noticed something that might be related to all this that echoes PT message above. I just recorded a MIDI part with one controller, but I left the icon for the other one pointing at another track. The blank part had a couple of random control events in it, despite (a) not having played that controller and (b) it being an event that controller doesn't generate.

Mind you, I have also just noticed that I am running 2.0.1.2 instead of 2.0.1.4 - what are you using hexman?

Post

Im using 2.0.1.4 (the boxed version). I only have one midi in, and I have not seen this.

Maybe its related but a twist?

Note that I actually entered the midi notes IN tracktion using the "pencil" tool so I couldnt have recorded anything (I assume). I did this to make sure it wasnt my midi-in or my syth.

Also - mine doesnt always repeate the error at the same location. When you're playback, sometimes it will play fine for 10x loops then error once. Then play fine for 5x ... Seems like if the part actually had events it would repeat at always the same place.

More wierdness though...

On second thought - maybe that IS significant. If the midi in stream is also getting buggered by tracktion (somehow), then maybe your blank track recorded the errors (kinda like I was using midiox to do externally to tracktion).

Post

Using 2.0.1.4 I have been unable (so far) to duplicate the random recorded control data.

As for the output data, have you tried sending to an explicit MIDI Out and Default MIDI Out - just wondering if there may be a difference there.

The problem I posted happens in T1 and is very random. It's like that car problem that won't happen in front of the mechanic.

See the new thread I have started entitled "That MIDI bug..."
