I never read the whole T2 rendering problem thread, but did most or everyone agree that rendering in 32 bit didn't have the distortion/gating problems that were mentioned?
Thanks!

unfortunately yes, its got em. They were on;y observed only at very low levels though - so it doesn't seem they would survive subsequent truncation and dithering to 24 bits (you will want to do this in an external editor).

Beno descibed it as "obviously a priority". Watch for a point update soon...

For the updates. Do you have to get another box now that Mackie says there will be no donwloadable versions?semiquaver wrote:Beno descibed it as "obviously a priority". Watch for a point update soon...
This might sound like a bitching or a joke question, but it is not. I am being dead serious. If you bought the box. How are you going to get the updates/bug fixes? That is one of the things that has kept me from buying T2 from an American distributor.
I guess we have to wait and see how they manage that.

ponit updates will more than likely be downloadable, either modifying or replacing the current exe. - that's how most companies do it.
To provide cd's for that kind of thing would be economically unfeasible really.
One would expect new versions e.g. T3 to be a new cd maybe e.g. Reason 3, SX3, Ableton Live 4.0 etc.

Tracktion 2 *is* downloadable AFAIK. You just can't buy a new license on-line.Germ wrote:For the updates. Do you have to get another box now that Mackie says there will be no donwloadable versions?semiquaver wrote:Beno descibed it as "obviously a priority". Watch for a point update soon...

Well. Just the same. Isn´t it?valley wrote:

Actually I should say my first post was serious, but with a hint of sarcasm
We already got the distributor in Spain telling us it will be available "soon" at 220$ a bit too expensive for me right now as I bought 2 other apps and I´m planning on buying another baby boa constrictor
Maybe by mid august I will drop by the store and find a shiny blue box smiling at me and beggin to be taken home
I have found Podium to be what I was needing for the band´s project so I will be busy with that for a while.

Just like Phz noted. They are different. Tracktion is geared more towards getting a quick result in the least amount of time. Podium is quite easy to work on as soon as you have spent some time learning its particular structure ( I love it BTW ) but as soon as you are over that notion it is quite easy to work on too.stash98 wrote:how do you like Podium..I wonder that compares to Tracktion.
Actually I think I am starting to like Podium better than Tracktion , but that is a personal thing and you have to try it and see if it is good for you.
Podium is really stable and is moving at a really fast pace. I have not found any bugs yet, but there must be some. I know there are a couple features I want in there, but I will mail them to the developer and see if they are feasible. Ohter than that. It has all things I wanted in Tracktion.

interesting..well i love tracktion because of it's fusion of VSTiS and live recording.. I dont like the sends and rendering issues.
I want solid software that I can make live rock songs in and make beats or electronic music. I use BFD, jamstix, kontakt and battery a lot..plus softsynths. I record live vocals, guitars and bass.

I do make music like the ones you are mentioning and I have found Podium cool for the live recording and audio mixing part.stash98 wrote:interesting..well i love tracktion because of it's fusion of VSTiS and live recording.. I dont like the sends and rendering issues.

For the electronic stuff I still think FL studio is peerless. Again it is just a matter of personal taste, but at 90$ Podium was a deal I could not resist.

Not to be picky, but Ableton Live 4.0 (and all bugfixes) was available as an upgrade via download. There was an option to pay a little bit more to order it as a box - directly from Ableton - including a samples CD and paper manual. The retail version of Live 4 - and its pricing - was for brand new customers only.diverdee wrote:ponit updates will more than likely be downloadable, either modifying or replacing the current exe. - that's how most companies do it.

Hooray for Ableton!
