Help me fix T2 or find why it is bugged, please

Well, I have this draw / graphics-problem on my mac os x 10.3.8 and now also on Tiger 10.4, so this must be a problem with T2 in general. I have VERY slow "framerate" on meters, waveforms and timecode / bars. So this general "not-on-a-mac" exception-rule doesnt seem to apply for T2. My hardware is a 1.33 Ghz 15.4 inch Powerbook and using the internal soundcard.
Hopefully, this will be fixed in future updates.

Someone on OS X has this problem now.
I think maybe it isnt my system, but a setting or project in T2?

I had this problem once only when zoomed far out on long edits on mac w/T2 (on a dual 2g!). It only happened once so I'm not too bugged.

I was wondering if it might have something to do with T2:s vectorized-type layout? Somehow, due to the new function of scaling up and down the interface, it might have a GPU-related performance-degradation of sorts? I dont know tech-stuff, but it definitely seems to be related to the graphics. Now, in OSX, T2 can be scaled through the function "exposé" that allows you to scale down all open applications at once for an easy overlook. This was not available in T1 to my knowledge (well I couldnt get it working anyway).

I've just had this problem too. I turned off hyperthreading on my P4 for no particular reason, just to see what it'd be like, then opened up a new edit in tracktion and started to add triangle 2s to see if there was any improvement in the number I could run. As I added more the GUI slowed down until I got to 14, the CPU was at 98% and the GUI was virtually static and would be totally unusable in a normal situation. I dunno if this suggests a possible cause to anyone with more knowledge of how these things work than me?

OK, HT on my P4 stays on then!

I have been under the assumption, that the initial post was using a setup with low cpu load... is that what's occuring? If you've got something really taxing the CPU, then the GUI is definately going to slow.. or least that has always been my experience.

Well, the stuttering screen redraw happens even though nothing else is running on my 1.33 ghz powerbook. Havnt had time to try it yet on my new AMD64 3000+ stationary. Wouldnt think it is cpu related since I can have a project running like the demo song "Everyone wants you" and the cpu-meter only shows 10-15 percent or less, even though the screen stutters through the meters and scrolling. Is there anyone involved in T2 thats following this thread?

I'm assuming T2 is the only application running when you guys see this slow down, right?

Is the cursor supposed to move smoothly? Mine jumps about 20 or 30 pixels at a time and the meters have always been jerky. I just thought that was the way Tracktion worked.
?
I should add that it never affects playback. CPU is always really, really low.

Just to clarify, there was a progressive slowing down of the GUI with each instance of Triangle 2 that I added, it wasn't just when the CPU load was really high that slowing occured.
And Braj, I haven't yet tried this with HT on, it might be just as bad.

My Mac is slower than it really should be (667 G4) but I don't notice any significant UI sluggishness unless I am running other applications, or the CPU meter gets above 75%, both of which seem reasonable.

OK, I've just tried turning HT back on and doing the Triangle 2 test and there wasn't any slow down until the CPU load was really high and then it was only slight, nothing like it was with HT off. I also remembered that I had my graphics card acceleration turned off as it's a Radeon 9200 without a fan and was occasionally overheating and causing crashes, with this turned back on there wasn't any slow down either (with HT on or off), so I think that explains it (for me anyway).
