Automation in Tracktion ?

I can map CC messages from a controller to, for example, the volume slider in track one. But any data recorded from tweaking this controller is stored as an automation curve. The movements also show up in the clip CC curve, but this actually has no influence on the volume slider, it's only the automation curve that is influencing the volume slider. It would be great if the cc data from the clip could be mapped to the volume slider, is this possible?

Why? MIDI CC is 7 bit, and limited to 960 ppqn (or whatever Tracktion runs at). VST automation is 32 bit, and should be more or less sample accurate. There's no other way to do it using the built-in vol/pan filter in Tracktion besides using VST automation.

?
I don't think you do. If your MIDI controller is assigned to a 'knob' and you move that knob around while recording automation, it'll be recorded as VST automation, no need for a 'conversion' stage.
ModuLR coded CC rider for use in T1... dunno if that'd be any help to anyone. Dunno if it works in T2. Not sure what's needed as the end result, so I'll just shut up and go to bed now.

So, in this case, a volume slider acts as a VST automation, and has a corresponding Midi CC which I can set on my Controller??
Sorry for my ignorance, I havnn't got T2 yet.

Not quite. In T2, you can map any MIDI CC to any automatable parameter, for any filter, which includes the native T filters, as well as VST filters. That's the best reason to upgrade, if you ask me.
