Hi!
I am happily using T2 now, seems great as always.
I consider buying some Drums on Demand CD:s so I wonder what format I should order.
Can T2 play Rex or Rex2 BTW?
Thank you in advance.

O-jay,
Hopefully you are aware that if you want to time-stretch those loops, you won't be able to do it directly in Tracktion without audible artifacts - you'll need to re-wire a client that can handle time stretching, or stretch in advance, or beatslice the loops in T.

I suppose I'll have to stick with the tempos offered then, as well as the levels and ambience in the files.rockstar_not wrote:O-jay,

But I think I can live with that, the demos sound really good IMO.
It it just too time consuming to program drums and I am beginning to find Groove Agent a bit limited sound wise (have used it a lot though).

Have a look at Jamstix from Rayzoon. A real time virtual drummer that is simply great.

Now I got Dod and they sound great but... it would be very nice to me able to do some slight time-streching.rockstar_not wrote:O-jay,

So can anyone please tell me what I need and how to do this?

May I suggest the excellent sampler from Vember Audio SHort Circuit. It can import rex files and there is a free version with limited polyphony but that wouldn't be a problem for sliced drums. However you may need the corresponding (to rex) midi files. Not sure cause I haven't used it for similar jobs.
If I go insane, please don't put your wires in my brain

I only have the so called Acidiced 24 bit wav files... no rex.

Perhaps another cheap route to go would be to get Sony Acid Express 5.0O-Jay wrote:I only have the so called Acidiced 24 bit wav files... no rex.

and load the DOD Acid files into it and use Acid Express to speed up of slow down the files to your liking then "render" them as new .wav files to be imported into T2. This would of course take a little bit more time and effort but it should work. I glanced through Acid Express's manual and it says it supports rendering to .wav format. I mentioned yesterday on another thread that I talked to a Mackie tech prior to purchasing T2 about the whole Rex2 compatibility issue and he volunteered that they were planning on incorporating support for Rex2 and Acid files in Tracktion3 (whenever that comes out......he had no clue when that would be available). Until then we have to work around this. Hopefully future Tracktion updates will include support for these types of files and more.

So do we have to wait for T3 before there is Acid support? Or a new timestretch? I was sure this would be a point release type thing. When is T3 coming out then?
Another alternative for timestretching in the meantime is a rewire slave that does timestretch, not sure about Acid but Live Lite does this well, you can get it free with many controllers. Maybe Acid Express can be rewired? Then, you can just render the rewired track within T2 and not have to work separately in another application. This also allows you to do ramped tempo changes and experiment alongside the rest of your composition. I think it's the best solution right now for using loops in T2.

Exploring T2 I realised that a clip can be stretched using Alt-drag. This makes adjustments by a few beats possible without me hearing any loss in quality.
Makes my DoD clips fit perfectly in rythm *happy*

Acid Express will not export at full resolution. It exports at some godawful rate if I remember right.
If all else fails, you can get someone with the right software to take your loops and stretch them to tempo for you. A local friend would be best, but other than that, someone with broadband and patience would probably do it, too.
I use Plasma Express 2003, which came free with a copy of Computer Music in order to do my Acid loops, though if I'm not mistaken the limit is 16-bit export. That's OK, 'cause I use 16-bit, though.
