Come on Mackie - get a grip will you ?

What's happening in Europe and the Rest of the World regarding rebates ? At least tell us that paying for the $20 upgrade will not invalidate any rebate should one ever transpire.

Please
Yeah!

Or at least tell us "we don't know yet"

Something!

Anything!

Anyone!

Bueller!
Why don´t you guys go over to the Tracktion/Mackie forum at Mackie.com and ask there?
I would think that is the place where you, most likely, will get an answer :D

Post

Well I've done that too - let's not hold our breath for an answer ;)

The tumbleweed that gathered there in response to T2 questions pre-T2 release is still cluttering the place up

I have to get to town now, but when I get back tonight, I'll find where Beno said that. I'm absolutely positive that he did, as I remember it factoring into my decision.

He pretty much said that as plug-ins are added, only those with the bundle will be able to get them. Now, I'm not going to say that this won't change, just that that is what Beno said. I'll post back tonight.

And it wasn't Beno that said the particular plugs would be added originally, but the ads. Beno just confirmed that information I just stated.

That is my recollection fwiw.

Not that I like it :(

Anyway I have been using T2 (nasty-foreign-johnnie-overseas-download-only-upgrade-version) in anger over the weekend and am even more impressed with it but I can;t help thinking this 2-tier userbase might become divisive - hope not.

I agree Tim. It's the long-term Tracktion devotees that would be punished by such a strategy, and it would be very hard not to be cynical about Mackie's financial intentions. I think things would get quite ugly here very quickly.

Beno/Jules - please let us know that this is NOT true...

That'd be a change

I'm kind of curious about how they will handle things also. Keeping all the different version users straight will have to be done just right, or someone will be unhappy. I'm sure Mackie has a plan on this, but it would be nice to hear the details of it all, since there are alot of questions going around.

Let me see if I can find the quote from Beno.

Ok, you can find the quote here:

http://www.kvraudio.com/forum/viewtopic ... highlight=

There on that page Beno says this:

"Online versus full is the same license for Tracktion as far as I know. But obviously if we add more 3rd party plug-ins to the full bundle, only the bundle people will receive them."

There ya go!

Now, re-reading that, I must admit, I don't remember it saying 3rd party. So it's possible that the Mackie plug-ins will be fore everyone. And thinking about it, since the rest of the suite is in the online upgrade, then it would make sense to put them all. Let's hope that at least the Mackie ones are available to all. Sorry if I mis-interpreted that.

The only difference in the boxed version is the bundled plug ins correct?
so surely that should continue to be the only difference.
If mackie brand plug ins are available - but only for the box that would be, in word, shit.
I refuse to believe that would be their policy, as it would be absolutely stupid & shortsighted & would achieve nothing apart from creating an incredible amount of ill-will.
They appear to have messed a few things up with this release (imo), but that would be beyond messing things up - it would be a big 'f**k you' to all the original tracktion supporters.
Can't be true, unless some mackie cone-head marketing guru believes it would force all the download upgraders to also use their $60 rebate (if they are in the U.S.) to buy a boxed version in order to get the plug-ins.
But no one is that stupid (well they are, but surely not in such a position of power? - okay i'm picturing Ronald Regan & Bush Junior now, i'd best shut up  ).

Right you put that quote in whilst I wqs typing - that's what I remember, the 'third party' phrase is key here.

It will all end in tiers!

:smack: sorry!
