I know it has been praised before, but since I paid for the full version I have been delving in to it further and I simply cannot praise it highly enough. I have been using it to create extremely 'human' drum tracks from scratch in just a few minutes. It fits with the T philisophy of getting out of the way of creating music brilliantly. Most recently I have been fiddling with tweaking the internal sounds rather than using it to drive external samples and it is very powerful. Having tweaked the sounds I then realised you can group certain parts of the kit to the 4 output channels and apply the internal compression to each channel differently - cool.

Apparently those with good/expensive drum modules also get great results with Jamstix driving them.

I'll post a link to the track I'm submitting for my Guitarist Magazine Recording Collective May Task (still finishing off the guitar track) - it is noteworthy not for my writing, arranging, guitar playing or 'amazing' drum track, but for the reason that the drum track was done in about 5 minutes :)

Any other happy Tracktioneer-Jamstixers?

Right here Timmyo...

I just bought it last night after messing with it for a couple of hours. I only learned a fraction of what it does but it was obvious that it was going to be very cool, and certainly worth the mere $79 they're charging for it at the moment. I'm looking forward to digging into the manual today.

I'd be interested in hearing your tune Tim, i've been thinking about Jamstix for a while, not yet committed to buying it. I keep trying various drum solutions and haven't found the perfect one yet, but I liked a lot of what i tried with Jamstix.

Have you tried using it to drive sfz with the nskit yet? I'd be keen to try that combination ...
"my gosh it's a friggin hardware"

I have song up on the Jamstix website in the downloads area called Summerstorm if interested.

I had thought about setting up for nskit but the included kits are pretty good and I see it as a lot of work for little gain.

Yes have used sfz and ns_kit - it works fine but ironically I found that as Jamstix can easily make funky drums, rock drums, bluesy drums, metal drums then ns_kit worked ok with some and not others - I'm following sonicsmurf's lead and tweaking the internal samples (no ££ for DFHS/BFD or similar) and that seems to be working OK. I have resisted the temptation to spend time on the drums in my sample track so you can hear what simply slapping a couple of the funk patterns on and defining 3 or 4 fill bars does. Just need to record a guitar part (it is for a guitar forum after all! and I just got my Guitarport back after lendng it to a friend) and I'll share it - or I suppose I could just render it without tonight . . .

I'm all over Jamstix in T2! I drive my DR-008 with it and it totally rocks my world.. like was said, it lets me make music and not obsess over drum loops/MIDI tracks/constant tweaking so I can JUST FREAKING PLAY. :D

Jamstix saved me from the madness-causing issue of having 10 tracks of drums in T2 cluttering up my screen! $79 to save my mind was cheap. :-o :o :P

Once I download the 217MB sample set, maybe I'll try tweaking the internal samples as well.. right now I'm a happy camper! :) 8)

Same here, Jamstix made my life easier. Takes a while to get to know it, though... like a real drummer who plays with you, you have to give him the right directions to prevent a mess! :D
When I do audio jams, I prefer a setting that concentrates most variations on the hi-hats. Not on snare drum or cymbals. This creates a subtle "live playing" feel. It's amazing how Jamstix can play around with hi-hat accents.
The internal sampled drumkit is very good when tweaked (less ambience, more panning, snare drum pitched a little higher).
Jamstixxxx roxxxx! :-)

I just tryed it based on all these good reviews, I'm not really into groove players or whatever but this thing is really fun. I cant believe how tight the midi is. Its like its locked in to Tracktion. They did a great job.

Jamstix controls my BFD all and is a godsend..I can make rock recordings that feel and sound real...i also can make crazy breaks w/ live drums that sound like i pulled them off a 72 blue note record.

Jamstix is really amazing especially in Tracktion. I was using drum loops (had to rewire Fruity to T) but now I can do everything in Tracktion. I'm looking forward to the Rayzoon percussionist. They're also working on a bass player but that's what I do. :D
