How do you like the boxed plug-ins?

AD80, I'm not discounting Battery 2. That's why I said that it is probably just because of the way I'm used to working. I agree that Battery 2 does look nice, and has some cool features, but I've just used DR-008 for so long that it's what works. But in my honest opinion, I think Battery 2 looks like a fantastic product. However, I can't afford to even think about it if I want to get Kontakt 2 any time soon.
Also, my opinion is of course based on a limited knowlege of Battery 2, and what I've read on the NI website. But it may be an option for me in the future, but I literally use DR-008 on virtually every song I do, and it's like my little baby. I do wish they would hurry up and continue with Drum-Nine, just to see what it will be like. But it doesn't look like it will be soon.
Again, no disagreement on how good B2 is. But for me, DR-008 has more power than anything there is.
By the way, how are the kits with it? I like the DR-008 kits and other content, but really don't know the extent of the kits, except for what is advertised.

Considering the number of reports on this forum that Sampletank doesn't like Tracktion 1, I was surprised to see it included in the bundle. I tried the free Sampletank last year and couldn't get it to work at all in T1, so promptly uninstalled it. TBH I never had high hopes that Sampletank LE would work in Tracktion, and factored that into my decision to get the download without the plugs.DHR53 wrote: Sampletank 2 LE does not seem to like T2, (or vice versa) I'm getting a lot of screen glitching, and the knobs spin wildly when trying to do some editing... That's the OSX version though, and ST2 LE works fine in Logic so I don't know? I've asked about it, but no word from Sonic Reality, or Mackie.

I use Sampletank LE in Tracktion, but I haven't used it extensively enough to tell you if there are any real problems. It initializes, I can load my drums into it (Studio Drums Capsule), and I can muck around with it. That's about all I can say. In that context, it hasn't crashed on me or failed to load.

SO do you like Sampletank LE? I remember being tempted when I read the reviews of the full version a year or so ago. But I quit caring when the "free" version wouldn't work for me. I'm interested to know what you think of the sounds?

The version that comes with Tracktion is SE, I believe, not LE. So I can't say. The only sounds I have are those that came with the Combi Kits group buy from Squids & co.. Sampletank LE is just a player, and includes no sounds of its own. I like it, but the LE version is very limited. Not sure what the limitations are compared to SE.

Thanks Greg. I already bought the "download" version of T2 without the plugs, but I'll be interested to hear more about Sampletank in its various forms as users here report back! If I felt confident in the stability, usablilty and sound quality of it I might be in the market for the full on expensive version later in the year. Cheers!

I have ST2 LE, with SS1... (Group Buy)... I've considered upgrading it to L or XL many times, but the lack of scroll wheel support in the browser drives me nuts! What were they thinking? When you have 1500 presets, you'd think that would be the FIRST thing they'd implement?? That aside, the sounds are pretty good, and the FX is great! Not sure if you can use SS sounds with ST or vice versa?? SS sounds are genrally better, but proprietary, which means you have to buy both, or expansions. As far as T goes... forget it! It does some pretty wacky stuff, and I've written Sonic Reality's tech support, with no response... IK, maybe next year... Does seem like a strange addition though, I wonder if Squids would care to comment on SS2 in T2??

Thanks for the reply DHR53. If I was paying out that much I would want it to work in both Tracktion and Live

You know Squids spends a lot of time here, and I like their products, but every time I try and contact there "tech support" I never hear anything? Either what I'm asking, they don't want to talk about, or they aren't paying as much attention to support, as sales
Understandable, I guess. But, when they announced the new group buy on SS2 and ST etc. I asked them about ST and SS2 (in T2), on the forum, and directly through e-mail... No comment so far! ...So, I was prepared to spend the money on this bundle, but NOT if it didn't work in T2, as well as say, Logic? Seems like they would comment, right?
...Nope!

so the Sampletank that commes with T2... Is it just a player? Does it have sounds? Can it be upgraded to a full version if one likes it?
I do not have any sort of Sample based synth (OS-X) and need one for an upcoming video soundtrack project to make use of some specific instrumental sounds (sitar and middle-eastern flute). It is an area I know little about. So I am wondering if Sampletank is worth pursuing, or if not, what should I look into for this need?
Also, how would I go about finding good emulations of those instruments?
So far the main comments seem to be that Sampletank does not play well with Tracktion, so that is not encouraging. I am considering whether to get the boxed version, even if I did not load Sampletank at all. (I cannot stand unstable sotware)
Thanks for any advice

The T2 version is just a player, and it does have many very good sounds with it, mostly bread and butter sounds, but it can ONLY play those sounds. It may be able to play Sampletank 1 SE sounds, as the version with ProTools can that I have.
I have never had any problems with Sampletank products in Tracktion, either on my PC or my Mac. Always been stable for me.

Hmmm... I have ST2 LE with the SS1 sounds... In T2, when I rotate knobs, they flutter, and spin out of control... And spinning the cutoff, will cause loud spikes, on some of the sounds randomly... It does not do this in Live 4.12 or Logic 7.1 OSX 10.3.9... Dual 2.0 G5... If your not getting this from ST maybe the included version is not the same as the latest ST2 LE?? I didn't install the vesrion that came with T, since I already had it... It does this all the time! not occasionally...koolkeys wrote:The T2 version is just a player, and it does have many very good sounds with it, mostly bread and butter sounds, but it can ONLY play those sounds.
