- Is there a "version two" of this beauty planned?
No, there will be no version two of FreeAmpSE.
Lookin to fix a denormal bug, and repair the Gate.
So version 1.1 Yes
Now, IMO I can do much better then FreeAmp in,
Sound quality, ease of use and Yes the CPU.
Instead of one amp that does many amp tones.
I will build many, two channel amps.
No, they will not be free! Just very affordable.
I have the first six in a 3/4 baked state now.
Those who helped test FreeAmp, and myself feel
A tighter response to the pick, hear the guitar more
(even when heavily overdriven), and enjoy using
A smaller amp (easy to use).
I will try to make an amp for ALL, then you can
choose from the amp's in the, HELIAN SERIES.
That best fits your style of music.
Ways you all could help is? Let me know what
tones make you happy in FreeAmp? then I can
incorporate them into the CPU friendly versions.
>it sound very good ! thanks a lot
Btw,do you have some news about your future vsti(especially the sample based) ?
GCBS is amazing
Hello Damien
I do hope you are enjoying GCBS, pop a
compressor after it, some great sub tones
from a guitar can be had..
Yes I will be working more with the synths.
The next one will be a sample based one, But
First, I must get this amp project started..
FreeAmp SE was suppose to be a rest from
making the synths. In November when the new
versions of the synths were released, I looked
at Chimp, which was made for TrippLead.
So I thought it would be fun to take a break
and build a small complete amp. Well about
2000 hours of work later, you have my little
break, Free Amp SE I do hope you all enjoy.
Anyhow first thing to look at with the synths,
Is the pitch tracking, it does very well in the
higher registers of the neck, not as well in the
lower. I will find a way to fix this.
The gate I now feel is very fast and stable,
Less to do there. Then to start a sample bank.
Could be a while, but I'm getting much faster.

My first post here.
What a great rig. I have the same CPU probs etc that everyone else described and if I'd paid for it I would have a whinge but since it's free I'd just like to say that I love it and I love Fretted Synth and I want to have your children.
I've been using Simulanalog JCM900, Revalver and G-Phat but this has left them for dead. I'm running my crappy Korean Strat copy through a Behringer GDI21 pedal and into Free Amp loaded in Tobybear's Mini-Host. Deafness here I come. A million thanks Fretted Synth.

Thanks for this. Its got some great lead sounds (I liked Rump, Hebby, Dicey, Muck, Stump, Loon), and with a bit of tweaking I managed to get some cleaner rhythm sounds I liked (using the natural amp). Its definitely the best free guitar fx I've come across, and I await your Helian series with interest. The auto-wah works nicely too.
Shame about the CPU usage being a little bit high (30-40% on my Athlon XP2100), but I think its worth it for the quality of sound. And its software so you can always bounce to another track once you have the effect you like, and save the original in case you change your mind later.

Do other SynthEdit plugins give this problem?
Will see if I can find a demo version to test.
Very cool to see you all enjoy the plugin, Have worked all weekend to remove any denormal problems.
I think they are now all gone,Thanks asseca!
At RAYA's request, I will now fix any pumping of the noise gate at low input levels, Thanks RAYA you are right the gate in Chimp is better
Couple days should have a new version

Here's why it doesn't work. I know 'cause my ampsim Tubebaby doesn't work in Audition either. Reason is that both our plugins use 1 input and 2 outputs, but Audition only supports vst plugins that are either 1in - 1out or 2in - 2out. Pretty lame of them, if you ask me...FrettedSynth wrote:>Hmm...doesn't show up in Audition 1.5

Thanks again for the really nice sim

Hello _niko_
Thanks for that, saved me a lot of digging
And from someone who made a plugin I to dig, Thanks that means a lot. Yes Free Amp SE is a mono input.

Well, I can only hope that that gets fixed in the next version of Audition. Great program, but the VST support is still dodgey.
Sounds fantastic in cubase, though.

supavintageskunkfunk plug, my strat appreciates.
Am I stoned or the envelope wha acts with a tad of delay?
anyway the wha sounds spectacular, as the whole plug.
you spent your time on whas well, Fretted.
another thingie, aren't the presets a bit too "wet" in delays & verbs? just a though. I've checked just the main bank, though.

The presets are a tad bit "wet", all contain "verb/echo"; in this case to show off the FreeAmpSE sound, it is a good thing...maybe in a mix less "verb/echo" would be better...it is also a matter of taste/music style.waiting man wrote:another thingie, aren't the presets a bit too "wet" in delays & verbs? just a thought
