Hey!

I'm having problems getting rewire to wrok between Tracktion 2.0.1.4 and Ableton Live 4.1.2. I've tried three times without success - but with different problems each time as follows:

1. The first time everything seemed fine until I finished the session and tried to close Live 4. A message came up from Live saying that the Rewire host was not behaving correctly (as a teacher let me say :hihi: ) and that it couldn't close. At that point the system completely froze and ctr/alt/del etc wouldn't work. This led to me having to reboot the system... and of course lose the session (saved in Live but not Tracktion).

2. The second time there was no sound from Live 4 even though I checked the routings were all correct. The meters in Live hovered around 50% as if there was an ongoing noise floor. Very strange.

3. The third attempt was no more successful. This time audio returned from Live, but with a drastic delay/echo introduced :( .

Has anybody else experienced/reported these issues?

That's good. I'm on Windows...

How can that be normal?! Is it a Live or a Tracktion issue?

It could explain the lack of sound in attempt number 2 though, as I was using a MIDI track on that..

Cheers

I thought that Live could still be controlled via midi when in rewire slave mode?
It is a rewire 2 app, or is that only when running as the master?

dont know. thats what they told me at ableton
Live has no rewire midi bus. Dont know if its the same with other master programs.

Live doesn't support VSTs when in Rewire mode.
If you have requests for Korg VST features or changes, they are listening at https://support.korguser.net/hc/en-us/requests/new

Ok. But there are simpler and impulse.:-(

OK, so that's obviously a Live 4 issue. It was Impulse I was trying to use in attempt 2 of 3 listed above.

So any ideas about problems encountered in attempts 1 or 3? Anyone? :help:

HAve you reproduced you problems on subsequent attempts, headquest?

No, different problems each time! (and to be honest, there's only so many times I like to crash my laptop each day  ).

I couldn't get T2 to even recognize Live 4.1.2 in OSX... Live IS capable of running as a slave, right? I launched T2 first, then Live... It says: Live cannot run while another Rewire master is running??? I'll admit, I've only rewired Reason to Live, but I thought Live would slave and playback audio... Hmmm!

It should. But I just realized Live is crashing for me upon launch in 10.4.1. All kinds of issues with audio apps in 10.4.1 :(

On a more serious note, in view of Tracktion/Reason rewire bug, I've concluded that Tracktion is a poor rewire host. Also it seems to me that Live is a poor rewire slave (but great rewire host imho). Hence my original point that using Tracktion plus Live as you intend may prove ill-advised. But if it is working fine for you then good luck!

Check the thread on 10.4.1 on the Ableton forum

So, can Live slave to a rewire app? Hmmm, I thought it could... maybe I'm wrong there... I'm still on 10.3.9... No thanks, to any Tiger nightmares, please!
