Geoff, have you announced a price yet? I'm sorry, but I started in on page 8 since I haven't read this thread for a while and forgot where I left off.
If not, then what are you considering? I use your Ultimate Guitar Kit now, and I love it. Oh, and for your work, in case you thought I forgot, I can get you those samples we talked about in e-mail. I just have to find them as I have been re-organizing my samples folders. Thanks again!

Just about done. The samples are probably long enough that I don't have to loop them, right?

Looping is really only of benefit on sustained instruments like a Violin where you would like to extend the possibility of an infinite bow – but on a guitar if the whole sample is there – then I think loops can in fact take away realism. Loops are cool if you need to make really small files fit into really small memory banks
Someone correct me if I am wrong

Hmmm, okay. The samples are long enough that I think you'd rarely run into the end of the samples, but maybe if you had super-long tones. I guess you could just fade the end off with a controller 11 expression marking.
So if nobody cares about the looping, then it looks like I'm done with the sounds and all I have to do is get the documentation going and sort out some other things.
The entire bass library amounts to 259 megs.

Around 6-14 seconds long for fingered or slapped sustained tones. For muted sounds I usually let it naturally decay. In all of my demo songs I haven't run past the length of the samples, so that's a good sign.floyd wrote:how many seconds avg the samples?

Now I'll start getting excited
259Mb... That's at 16bit for the SF2, right? (I'm just thinking I could fit it into RAM at 32bit, nice!) I forget, did you do high-res sampling..?

So you captured the sound of releasing the note at the end of those 6-14 seconds? That's how I prefer it!

I'm counting on buying this as well(Given the price is set at $20). A better bass was and is my next goal in technically/quality wise improving my music.

The soundfont is 16 bit 44,100 Hz. I'm not sure if you can go any higher than that in soundfonts. Also, the soundfonts are actually separate, so for example, the muted bass is a separate soundfont, which makes it really nice on your RAM -- that way if you only plan on using the slap bass, you don't have to load the entire library.pljones wrote:Now I'll start getting excited259Mb... The bass is all recorded DI, so of course you're going to want to put it through some amp simulator or even just a nice EQ would be fine.
No, but if you release the note right before it cuts off, it plays the release sample. Actually, looking back at the soundfonts, it looks like I got the natural decay on most of them, so there's no cut off. All the higher notes always have the natural decay, it's just that the low notes on my bass sustain forever.Markleford wrote:So you captured the sound of releasing the note at the end of those 6-14 seconds?
