Where does the clip colour pallette (in the property panel) pull those colours from? I can't see anything in the colour editor, yet those colours are different across the preset schemes.

I loaded several preset schemes and the strip color pallete was the same. I think the only thing that you can change is the "selected strip outline". But I see that changing the outline color makes the clip color look different in comparison.

No, they definitely are different. They may look the same *in the pallette*, but not when you apply them.
As an example:
1) Load scheme 'Beno - Bogic'. Select a clip and apply the leftmost colour to it. In the pallete it shows as bright red. Upon applying it to the clip the clip shows as bright red.
2) Load scheme 'LM - Steel and Orange'. Right away you should notice that your clip has become a lilac colour - even though the colour down in the pallete selection shows bright red. Try clicking on some of the other colours in the pallette selection. They're all different from the colours in 'Beno - Bogic'.
So, where are these colours defined? I've tried looking in the XML file to see if they were in there and just not being displayed in the app, but that is not the case. Also, as a sidenote, why does the colour pallette not correspond to the colours they they actually are when you use them?

I get it now. Audio strip and MIDI strip define the brightness and saturation of the colour selected in the pallette (left/right=saturation and up/down=brightness).
'MIDI horizontal black note band' is the other item to edit.
Thanks a lot Lunch Money.

No worries. On a related note, when I did my colour schemes, I was using a dingy old CRT monitor. I just got my LCD display and when I fired up a few of my schemes I thought, "Whoo-eee that's a bit bright".
Dunno if Mackie'll bother 'officially' updating any changes I make, but I'll get around to toning them down some day and I can post them to haydxn's page.

Haha....well, I'm using a variation of your 'Basic Brown' theme, which I really like, on my LCD. Most colours were great - I like UIs to be somewhat muted - but there were a couple of things that I needed to tone down a bit.
