ModuLR wrote: BTW if the launch button doesn't work, it is usually the rewire slave which has not implemented remote launching. Can't speak for the mac (cos it's not in front of me), but launching works with FLStudio, Plogue, and I believe reason if I recall correctly. It's never worked with live. Tell the ableton people to implement it, and it will surely work.
That's true, I'm sure. The launch behaviour is the same when using Adobe Audition as the host. It's not a particular problem, of course... just the way Live behaves at present

The two main things that DO matter (so far as the present thread) are :

1. Reason does not sync properly in Tracktion - it didn't in T1 and it still doesn't in T2

2. Live doesn't seem to work properly in T2 at all (numerous problems/crashes) :( . There seem to be a number of us having problems, so I guess this needs reporting to Mackie?

So it work's on the PC.. Hmmm, usually if Reason stuff works, it works on the Mac?... The button doesn't bring Reason OR Live to the front on mine, but since I use QuickKeys to launch apps anyway, it's just something I noticed... I checked for Rewire instances, just the one from the latest Reason install!

It's working fine for me with T2, 10.4.1 and Live 4.1.2  What problems are you guys having again? Just not working at all or something specific?

Well, there's the syncing issue... A Redrum or Dr.Rex pattern won't play back in time with T's sequencer... It skips the first 2 -3 beats and then starts playing... Instruments work fine though... Live, on the other hand I can't get to sync or slave at all to T?? It's supposed to be capable of being a Rewire slave, right? No luck here... Doesn't show anything but a L and R channel... Maybe I'm doing something wrong, but I can't find anything in the setup, that I'm not doing. And no one seems to have any suggestions?

:?

I dunno, it works fine here.

O.K. I launch T2, then launch Live 4.12... In T2, I put a Rewire filter into track one, and I get a drop-down menu showing L,R, Bus 1-16... Selecting L and R as outputs, play's whatever midi instrument is selected in Live's active midi channel, that's all... The transport is not synced, the audio won't playback, and I can't change instruments in Live at all from T... So what are you doing... :?:

Live4 doesn't support playing midi via rewire, you can only play audio tracks. This isn't a T2 issue, just the way Live4 is designed. Try recording your midi stuff in Live to audio first, then rewire it to T2.

I'm only playing Audio Loops in Live.

ModuLR wrote:just throwing this out there... have you checked to make sure there is only 1 version of the rewire library installed on your machine? Sometimes, especially when dealing with multiple rewire based software, they will install differing versions of the rewire library which tends to cause problems. Might be worth checking and making sure you only have a single version of the lib installed.
Thanks for the assistance ModuLR

What's the file called - ReWire.dll ?

There's 4 on my system - a T1/setup version and a T2/setup version. Indentical file sizes, both compiled on the same day 7th Apr 2003 but an hour apart T1 13:07, T2 14:07. Should I just delete T1 directories ? There are also ReWire.dll librbaries in Windows & Windows\System directories. The Windows\System looks like it's the same as the T2 one.

As there isn't a ReWire.dll present in Live or Reason - I assume they are built in classes :?:

It really seems like you and DHR53 are having different issues, I suspect his is setup-related. I haven't been messing with Rewire in Windows lately so I'm not sure what to think. When T2 installed, did it ask if you wanted to overwrite existing Rewire files? I had newer ones installed by Reason 3 so I used those.

I agree, but it looks like the ReWire missing first note symptom - all that needs is some empty bars or a note moved 1 tick off the first bar.

No such message was given by T2. Reason 3 not installed yet, I do have R3 ready to go but wanted to fix one thing at a time rather than complicate things further.

Surely there shouldn't be rewire.dll files in program folders? Don't they belong in Windows System?

Could this be the source of all evil?!

I'd try installing R3 and see what happens.

Okay, so I've done a system search for rewire.dll files. I last did this a few months back to check there was just the one, but now there are...SIX :!:

They are:

"ReWire.dll" in the following locations:

C:\Windows (14/10/98 )
C:\Windows\system (02/05/03)
C:\Windows\system32 (07/04/03)
C:\Program Files\Tracktion2\setup (07/04/03)
C:\Program Files\Image Line\FLStudio5\system\plugin\ReWire (24/02/05)

Plus this one:

"FLReWire.dll" located also in the FL file. (07/04/03)

The FL ones relate to the FL demo that I downloaded some weeks ago. Obviously the Tracktion one is also self-explanatory.

I'm more confused about the other 3. Presumably they were put there and/or overwritten by the installations of Adobe Audition, Ableton Live and Reason 2.5.

The first one, simply in Windows, is only 25KB, while most of the others are 212KB, so that's strange.

I assume there should be just one rewire.dll file, but I'm not sure whether it should be in Windows\system or Windows\system32. And is the one dated 07/04/03 the latest correct .dll to have installed?

Also is it safe to simply delete the others?

:help:
