I'm very much interested in purchasing Tracktion 2 and I've got a couple questions I'm hoping someone here can help me:
Right now I'm using Overture for all my classical sequencing needs. And it works really great. Especially for someone who is visually oriented. But I'm looking to do some heavy duty drum sequencing and I'd like a sequencer dedicated to drum tracks.

Does T2 have any specific functionality that would help me with that? If not, are there dedicated drum programs that would help?

Thanks!!

I am a T1 user and there is no specific tool for drum editing apart from the usual midi editor. I think the same holds for T2 but I think there is a step editor in T2 if that helps. However, I started using a free step editor by ModulR named "stepchild" which is IMO simply great for laying down drum tracks and much more (use the quick links in the upper right window of this window). There is also a modified version from user xing named ... stepbeater with some added functionality (use the search function of the forum). I think both tools are worth checking. Moreover the extended routing functionality of Tracktion along with "racks" are your best friends to create and manipulate drum tracks. Just my 2 cents.
Cheers

I think this may be precisely what I was looking for...the funny thing, the quick link says this used to be a part of Tracktion! :o Great minds think alike.

Thanks a ton!

Stepchild is a great little plug that fills a hole that is currently in Tracktion. In T2 one enhancement that helps is the ability to use a line tool instead of the pencil to draw in a whole row of, for example, hi-hats. But I think that Stepchild is still useful in T2 8)

As a new customer you will need to get the boxed version of T2, which includes the RMIV drum VST, which is generally regarded as one of the best. There are a bundle of MIDI drum loops provided too, I believe.

If you want more flexible, "full-featured" drum lanes you would need to invest in a much more expensive sequencer such as Cubase/Logic/Sonar/etc.

I recommend that you have a good play with the T2 demo, and I suspect you'll like it :)

Thanks headquest! Sonar is on my long term radar (so to speak 8) ) but for the short and medium term, Overture and T2 look like my best bests.
Thanks again! :)
