T1: Can't listen while I record

This is odd... I have been using Tracktion 1 for a while and it's always worked perfectly. But in the last couple of days, for some reason, I can't listen to what I'm recording while I record. If it's ReWired to Reason or if there is audio on other tracks, I hear the other tracks, but I can't hear the microphone and track I'm currently recording.
I tried clicking on "enable end to end" (I'm not sure if that's what this is for) and I can hear it but with a pretty long delay.
Did I press something by mistake that could have caused it to do this? I've been looking for hours for some setting I might have missed, in Tracktion or the control panel.
The only changes I can think of recently are that I installed a demo version of Ableton Live and I set up MIDI Out for the first time, which I wouldn't think would make a difference.
Any help would be appreciated!
Thanks!

end-to-end is definitely what you need to be enabling. Make sure it's enabled on the device (select the input icon on the left, then check the setting in the properties panel at the bottom) and also in the main edit (one of the buttons next to the master volume fader).
The long delay is due to latency, of which you have a lot, it seems. This may be due to using a large number of plug-ins with inherent latency (ie. convolution reverbs) or it may be due to your recent Ableton install 'stealing' your ASIO drivers and Tracktion defaulting you to other drivers (though I don't know why it WOULD... it shouldn't... it probably didn't, but I'd still have a look).
Basically, the short version:
1. Yes, your end-to-end must be enabled
2. Your latency may be due to changed soundcard settings
3. Your latency may also be due to intensive plug-ins

Thanks for the quick reply.
At least I know that end-to-end is supposed to be enabled.
I guess it is likely latency, which is weird since it never happened before.
I'm using it without any plug-ins and I uninstalled Live... it's still the same thing.
Even doing the auto-detect for "time adjust" brings latency of like 741ms (the max adjustment is 500ms and even that doesn't seem to make a difference).
Definitely odd but I'm glad to know end-to-end is supposed to be enabled - at least if gives me a starting point.

741ms latency is insane. You need to look at your drivers to see that they're set up correctly, and then also make sure that you've selected your low-latency drivers (ASIO if it's a PC) in the "audio settings" section of the settings tab.
For realtime recording, you really don't want anything greater than 8ms. I've done it with up to 13ms without getting too annoyed, but it was noticeable.
Don't bother with auto-detecting your latency. Keep that option just set to zero or 'off' or whatever you need to do. Tracktion already has plug-in delay compensation. Besides that, it cannot help for realtime recording anyhow.

I had never used ASIO drivers... Though I still don't know what happened to cause the latency, I got that asio4all driver and it seems to be much better now. Thanks again, Greg - I appreciated the help (it's been a long night!)
