Using the computer keyboard as a writing tool?

The Mkey site says that Tracktion doesn't allow for midi recording from plugin devices. Is it with the new version of tracktion possible to record midi output from a vst?

fraid not.
You'll need some form of MIDI loopback device, or a MIDI recorder plug.
The website is out of date in that it states that Thalamus is needed. It isn't. I think that was a bug in Tracktion, but you can get by with just MKey and MIDIYoke or similiar now.
(I will update that at some point).
I'm planning to add MIDI record functionality to MKey at some point, but I seem to have lost a load of the source code, so it's going to be a while.
