Sorry about the ALL BOLD post; just wanted to differentiate between my original NI Forum post and what I was adding here, lest anyone think I was plagarising myself.
This thread has gone to interesting places since my initial post....

Yes, it seems the best thing to do about clipping in Spektral Delay is to quote freely from "Usual Suspects".Scooter McCrae wrote:Sorry about the ALL BOLD post; just wanted to differentiate between my original NI Forum post and what I was adding here, lest anyone think I was plagarising myself.

In fairness, allow me to say this:bduffy wrote:Yes, it seems the best thing to do about clipping in Spektral Delay is to quote freely from "Usual Suspects".
My experience with Spektral Delay is hit or miss. It crashes outright in Orion Platinum, and when I use it in eXT I cannot seem to get a full mix using it, and often have to crank it's output. I assumed it was becuase the effect itself is a subtle one, but when you're using an effect at 100% wet & still have a hard time discerning what's happening, something's not right. Maybe it's the patches, as I AM able to get some decent sounds from a few of them, maybe it's me, but as forward thinking as Spektral Delay is, I don't think it's performance was ever optimized completely and I don't see this being addressed until v2 if that is even considered. I can't help you on Macintosh issues as I haven't been a Mac user now for almost 2 years, but again, when all things fail, I would make a phone call & try talking directly to a support tech.
My best answer, sorry it's not more helpful. I'm inclined to believe that Spektral Delay is a very complex effect & we're probably all using it incorrectly.
Usual Suspects is a great film, and you're a loser.

I sat down with it once determined to get to the bottom of it and I think I did, I was very surprised how unlike a reaktor ens. it was , but then I'm daft at the best of times

I'm using Cubase SX3 and have never had problems with it crashing, but I too find that I've got to crank the mix and/or gain all the way up. Some of the presets are very subtle, though. I've no where near figured this thing out, I've really only used the presets and kind of dread learning to program it mainly because the controls are SO SMALL when your PC monitor prefers you to run it at 1280x1024 resolution.Sickle666 wrote:My experience with Spektral Delay is hit or miss. I wish I could help on the static issue, though--actually I have a LOT of similar gain issues with Reakor 4 ensembles. I find it hard to keep them from clipping.

Great isn't itNRB/Meloday wrote:sorry, can't help with your troubles. just wanted to chime in and say that SD is, without a doubt, the most psychadelic effect plugin known to man. sprinkle it on drums, vocals, guitars and maybe even drop it into your tea to see where it takes you
