Repro:

Record two identical parts on two tracks. Pan one left, the other right. Route both of those tracks into a third track by selecting the third track as the output.

Plays fine the first time, maybe second time, but then drops out on subsequent plays. You have to click on the output track, then select the already selected output in the output window to get the sound back.

Happens all the time, very consistently.

If this has been noted, then I apologize. It's amazingly irritating.

Thanks,

unable to reproduce here ...

... are you panning in the clip properties or vie the tracks vol / pan filters (cant get it to drop using either myself) ???

(any chance of posting short .wav files that this happens with on your setup for us to test ??? )

I'm uploading a sample archive now. I have narrowed it down to a specific problem:

Volume Automation.

Route as stated above. Draw volume automation on the two panned clips, so that at some point, the volume drops all the way down. Play through once with "cursor return" on until the cursor hits the volume automations, and let them drop. Then, stop play. Hit play again. The volume filters do not return to the pre-drop level.

I'll PM you with a link to the sample archive.

Thanks,

Im not in front of my T machine right now but I think this has been noted and that the workaround is to add a volume automation point at the beginning of the edit.

yup ... that solves it ...

... tried it with both your archive and my own files ... just add an automation point to the line RIGHT at the start of the edit and all should be fine ...

hmmmnnn ... maybe that should actually read 'add an automation point to the line RIGHT at the start of the relevant clip' ...

(so that as the 'playhead' hits the clip the automation value is reset each time)
