no it is not!!
I would love to download a demo from Midiworks amp, to play, 'feel' and comparing it. I was listening to his .mp3's and they are very promising.

one the other hand, he's writing a lot of things I have to disagree. as I said before, he is comparing unprocessed soundfiles by sending them thrugh untweaked amp sim presets (e.g. Guitar Rig), while his own amp-presets are all tweaked well, imho. this is a nice try for a confusion or twisting the reality, but not a fair play. and if Midiworks always (since one year) says: wait, wait, save your money, use your ears, hype here, hype there, don't buy this and that, I think more and more, there is something completly wrong... vapourware, a complete fake, ...I don't hope so!!

as many others posted here, I don't need much FX neither. so I was a bit annoyed that NI was releasing their Combos now - although Guitar Rig has still the better mic & cab- speakersim - but if I knew this before, I maybe could have saved a lot of money.

to say I'm working for NI is bullshit. I'm writing a lot in forums these days, yes, because I'm interested in good amp simulations for a better home-recording and as a good alternative for a very expencive, traditional (studio) guitar/amp-recording and discuss this - always looking for the best buy. right now, I'm still convinced in Guitar Rig and as a Guitar Rig owner, I hope NI is releasing more amps soon. but if there is a better amp sim hit the market (hard- or software), my Guitar Rig evtl. goes to ebay, like all the other amp sim stuff I had before.

so bumping up this thread for the last time by me, I hope, Midiworks can release a demo soon for all the ones he has 'involved' to 'his' thread lately and discuss it later on ;-)

unprocessed soundfiles... holy cow !!!
That is the whole idea of an amp simulator,
to plug in an UNPROCCESSED GUITAR AND PLAY IT ! :x
...through untweaked amp sim presets (e.g. Guitar Rig)
So, Guitar-Rigs factory presets are untweaked ? :hihi:

But mine are ALL tweaked well !? :D

As I told YOU before:
Actually, I did NOT tweak them well...
1. Set the amount of distortion I wanted.
2. Selected 1 amp stage or 2
3. Selected the speaker simulation
4. Set the eq
5. Added compressor

Really absolutly nothing "well tweaked"...

The point is, IF the basic amp and distortion ARE good,
then there is not much to tweak.

Or do you tweak a real amp for hours to get the tone you want ?
this is a nice try for a confusion or twisting the reality, but not a fair play.
Really, I am soooo unfair to compare to GR and Amplitube factory presets !
and if Midiworks always (since one year) says: wait, wait, save your money, use your ears, hype here, hype there, don't buy this and that
1st,
the topic started 21 Jul 2004, that was when there was close to nothing of the amp...
Mainly just the idea born out of a KVR topic.

Later I really needed help on a few things and was asking around and a few of the very best joined in.
(no, I will not tell anyone yet who they are, not yet.)

2nd,
I never ever said:"don't buy this and that", never !
"says: wait, wait, save your money, use your ears".
Yes, thats what I said and will say again and again. ;)
I think more and more, there is something completly wrong... vapourware, a complete fake, ...I don't hope so!!
Really no vapourware, I simply have to do most of the work on my own...
Sometimes I need a break or whatever...

It is done when it is done.;)

AcBox has a really nice and useable distortion but no
update for the GR users (yet, maybe never... )
Instead you can buy the Combos, if you want a nice distortion.
Thats how you generate cash flow... :P

Then I guess you are not that happy with your Guitar Rig
but feel like you need to defend your high investment...

Give Izotope Trash a try, the only amp sim I can recomend.
(apart from the free GuitarSuite)
Not easy to tweak but you can get great results.

No need to reply to my questions here. ;)
Thanks ! 8)

I haven't take part in this thread that much except for providing some dry regordings of my guitar. Regarding Midiworks' attitude I don't think that he slagged NI's GR. Expressing a negative opinion it's a different thing and everyone may have different sound preferences. Moreover if someone thinks that Midiworks examples are unfair for Amplitube or GR can take the dry recordings and upload better ones. In such a case it would be a fairplay move if Midiworks added them to his comparisons page.
His plugin it's more likely to be out of my price range since I have my needs already covered with Gsuite and of course my actual tube amp and mic but I am interrested to see how this story will end.

The only problem that I have with Midiworks is that he's developing an amp sim and HE DOESN'T KNOW WHO SRV WAS :x :D

There are 3 kinds of people:
Those who can do maths and those who can't.

Inacceptable. Half of the guitar players are trying to achieve THAT tone. The other half is seeking the ultimate chugga-chugga sound

I grabbed a book off my shelf to read during my downtime today, and it was "Caught in the Crossfire," an SRV biography that I haven't read yet. :hihi:

Chugga-chugga is an important sound, I guess, but not as important as the roar and clang of an AC30!

what's a chugga-chugga? :?

The sound one makes during moments of extreme self-indulgence.
