bManic, do you already have Filterscape? That thing rocks and we are all just waiting the day or two (hopefully) until 1.1 will be out. But I concur, Urs' stuff rocks and dissing it is just, well, just....I won't finish.
Zebra 2, we are all waiting.

Hadn't even thought of this before... though I just mentioned about this phenomenon in another thread - new members appearing at some product's launch...
Makes you kind of wonder, doesn't it?
In any case, it's understandable that people have different opinions - FabFilter's resonance characteristics aren't to everybody's liking. But somehow this is starting to feel weird. Perhaps if it wasn't such a direct comparison between two products that appeared simultaneously?
Looks like it's time to call Mr. Mulder and Ms. Scully.
Haha, that bit about Filtescape (a few more posts appeared while previewing mine). Now this is getting funny =)

Hah, no revolution? Does he mean that Filterscape isn't revolutionary (which it plainly is), or that he wants some kind of revolving filtering (which filterscape can do when you feed the eq back on itself in filter mode with snapshot morphing on, then it just gets scary).
Yeah, have to question someone who comes on just to slag all other effects in the same arena as the one he is so blatantly worshipping.
Urs' if it is too hot, go buy a six-pack!
Just kidding. Sorry to hear it's so hot. Actually un-seasonably chilly here in NYC.

Sure, this can have a lot of reasons. For example, there are certainly some u-he endorsers out there who subscribed shortly after Filterscape release -> because I have my support forum here. Pretty natural...jmh wrote:Hadn't even thought of this before... though I just mentioned about this phenomenon in another thread - new members appearing at some product's launch...

Developers are also notoriously proud of their stuff, so I'd assume that a few lesser relaxed guys take some guerilla type measures to protect their precious. But seriously, who cares? A good product will get great reviews and stuff, no matter what a few stinkers will post. The only problem that could arise is their's, if they get uncovered
As we're all about ethics, here's the truth: Honestly, Vulcano sounds great! I wish I knew how to do that! - But FS1.1 is finished, it's primarily an eq and comes with an extra synth. Do they compete? Yeah, they have like 10% identical applications, like sweeps and stuff. The other 90% are specialities of each plugin. This is so with everything more or less innovative. I think that's just great!
Cheers,
P.S.: I'll try to get it out to customers tomorrow. It's 3.30am here and all windows are open. Feels good.

I had my 3rd glass of good Californian wine. Got the bottle from Jim of WayOutWare (TimewARP...). Great stuff. I'll have a deep sleep. Tomorrow should be the day (Well, it should've been today, but d'oh... I was paralysed)anti-banausic wrote:Urs' if it is too hot, go buy a six-pack!

Frantic itself sounds great... but man. Volcano is something else. It sounds exactly like this 40 year old home-made band pass filter one of my friend's has. It sounds like.. it sounds like awesome. It sounds like bricks hitting people in the face. It sounds like kittens getting kicked by steel toe boots.
I'm glad FabFilter did something about One only having one oscillator and being useless to me even though it had the best filter around. Now I can use as many oscillators as I want... with env follower!!!
FabFilter did it again! D'OH!

Must decide... between amazing sounding filter and amazinger sounding useless filter! DAMN YOU MIDI TRIGGER!!! DAMNNNNN YOUUUU!! Frantic's Follower actually actually very well... unlike Volcano's. And you don't even need it!

Indeed. We've seen this happen, and I'm not ruling out that possibility - at least yet.Urs wrote:Sure, this can have a lot of reasons. The other side of the coin though... we've seen that happen too. (And when you add to this the cases where the developers themselves appear here with a new alias...)
Yeah. Like I just said, that has happened too. In my eyes (and I'm sure I'm not alone with this opinion) it takes all the credibility off from the developer/company - and makes things rather suspicious in a case like this.Urs wrote:Developers are also notoriously proud of their stuff, so I'd assume that a few lesser relaxed guys take some guerilla type measures to protect their precious. And you're absolutely right, in the end it's the product that counts... it's just that much harder for a product to succeed (perhaps succeed is a wrong term here, I should say 'be welcomed here on KVR') if these sort of techniques are used to get KVR users' attention to it.
I can't help saying this... for me, FilterScape still appears more like a killer synth that comes with two extra plugins in the package =) Somehow I can't see FS directly competing with Volcano or Frantic as it's not supposed to be an emulation of some analogue filters. And I also don't see nothing negative in it - quite the opposite. It's not all about having just a bunch of 'analogue sounding filters' after all. And I can't wait to check out 1.1Urs wrote:But FS1.1 is finished, it's primarily an eq and comes with an extra synth. Do they compete? And add my voice to the chorus yelling ZEBRA 2!! I know someone personally who wrote a demo song for Zebra a while ago (vae), and I've been following its progress every since.

I think the FS package is just great because it covers 3 sorts of plugins and once you know one of them, you (almost) know the others as well.Urs wrote:But FS1.1 is finished, it's primarily an eq and comes with an extra synth.
And uhm, regarding the "extra synth" - I can't remember the last time I had so much fun playing around with a synth.
Just wait until people discovered the possibilities of the ArpModulator... there's just not much like it (in my arsenal there's only Kontakt 2 and it's defenitely not as much fun to fool around with for me).

Sascha, you have fun fooling around with software?
EEEWwww!
On a serious note, definitely looking forward to checking out 1.1. And very much the arpmodulator.
Best.

There's only a marginal difference between pretending to like something and actually liking it. Ask my girlfriend!!! Haha.
So, something more to take up my time. Great!
Let's hope that it is cooling down in Berlin.

Hi all. I've been checking out both Volcano and Frantic Filter and both to me are great and different from one another. In fact I couldn't pick one over the other so I ordered them both last night. Now I have 2 more great filter banks!
