I've been so busy lately doing everybody elses projects, that im having trouble getting inspired to do any writing or tweaking of my own.

when i have time to play and write, i turn off the audio software and start gaming. im so tired of audio software and music at that point that i don't even want to look at tracktion or cubase. and i think it's getting to be a little bit of a problem, and i think its making me grouchy and irritated.

anybody got any advice? any words of wisdom?

(no... i don't need a shrink...) but i may be in need of some musical recreation of some sort. i just don't have any inspiration for writing at the moment.

anybody got any really nice inspirational type or creative websites that they could plaster a link up here for me to look at?

i don't have time for a book or a class or a convention or a workshop. i need something that i can do on my lunch breaks that will pique my creative side to life again.

blah...

any nice comments or suggestions or reading or viewing would be great!

When you don't have to poop do you go and sit on the toilet anyways? Pushing and squeezing hoping something will come out?

Music is art, not manufacturing.

are you implying that taking a crap is an art as well?

It is when I do it.

perhaps taking a break at using the programs and just focus on using a keyboard or a guitar. Once you get a feel of what you want to create, write. Also you should work on fighting your inner critic. Writing down a positive, accurate thing about your creativity will make your inner critic flip out. Write out everything that it says, and then counter each one with more positive accurate comments about your creative side. Also you should simply find a quiet place and write words, scribbles, anything without THINKING at all, it doesnt even have to make sense. When you go back and read it, you will be amazed what comes out.

Then Launch T2, my friend.

get a nice super portable digital camera if you don't already have one... it's the perfect creative diversion. Stuff it in your pocket, go on your lunch breaks, and what not, and shoot random things you discover over the course of your day. There is always something interesting going on... I find it pretty inspiring when feeling shitty.

I've always found the best way out of composer's block is to discipline myself to write something every day, even if it's just a riff or a verse of nonsense, but do it every day until the block eases (as it definitely will). That's how I got through my master's thesis - I set myself one page a day. I discussed it with my dog as we went round the block every night. She listened attentively, without comment, never criticized, always backed me up. Get a dog, mate!

What my, ejem, vast expierence  tells me, is that chasing inspiration doesn´t work. Good ideas just come when it come...

I basically agree with semiquaver suggestion, that´s why I always have a small recorder in my pocket, and nearly always use it a few times in my long walks. It doesn´t have to be something coherent or structured, just a vague idea, a tiny melody, clapping hands for rythms ....

I just quit music for a while, a few days.
No radio, no cd's. Nothing like that, no actiive listening.
Then usually I go to a consert (any consert) then I get inspired as hell (usually thinking I could do things 100 times better)
Then inspiration just flows.
