I highly recommend downloading the 1.01 bugfix of volcano. Now the other filter algorithms (smoot, raw, hard and hollow) seem to be much better and more distinct sounding! I'm having a blast playing with em.
Too bad my evaluation time will run out before July 6th when the 1.1 update is going to be available but I think I can wait a week extra to see how they implement 1.1 and midi-note on triggering.

strange, no-one mentioned the nice 2d graphical interface for tweaking the 2 filter's cutoff and resonance. To me, this is the thing that would sway me towards Volcano as opposed to Frantic. I'm not sure which one sounds "better" to me, and they both are a lot of ca$h.
