can a note be deleted with one key so that the cursor goes back where it was? ctrl-z does the trick othervice, but the cursor won't return. and if i use the arrow keys the resolution is often wronf. have you found some solutions to this?
what about note length etc?
how do you manage to edit an arpeggio in tracktion step entry without using your mouse? =/

settable in the MIDI toolbar ... otherwise just resize after entry as usualmoonlite wrote:what about note length etc?

and it sucks that even that won't work in all zoom states .. hmh, I really expected more of tracktions step entry =( .. but thanks for the quick answer anyway =)
p.s. in theory, how fast do you think this kind of functionality could I expect to be implemented in T2 if this kind of a FR would get some moderate support?

... personally ... i would like to see the MIDI editor develop too (and not just the step entry element of it) ... i would LOVE to see a lot of the functionality (if not the look or interface) of the energyXT piano roll appear in T2.x ...

hmm.. you're right .. i'm just back from almost half a years hiatus, which started partially because t2 (step entry) wasn't out yet and I can't (and don't want to) afford cubase or a mac ..
well, I think I'm off to finding solutions rather than waiting for them =)

yeah, key (and MIDI !!!) -bindings for moving and editing about the pianoroll. haven't yet found the perfect step editor, but I think we can do even better than what logic has .. it should be very agile to operate it .. as agile as using trackers =)

I would also like to see step improved. One idea I have would be ability to use mod wheel (for example) to control a range of note lengths. Or there could be key bindings for note lengths, but I like using a controller on my keyboard for controlling step note lengths. Wouldn't mind using the foot controller for note length either.
I would also like undo to step back. Good suggestion.
I can see a step record that works fluidly and swiftly.
My impression with Tracktion is that it is not going to move quickly so I have no expectation of seeing anything but a bug fix update anytime in the coming months. Of course it would be nice to be surprised

iirc, era (and trackers) have the best step editing i've stumbled across so far.. hmm, and i think p5 had quite a good one, too .. don't remember so good, though ..

i know but its as good as we can get. besides the step isnt THAT bad in t2. It'll be improved im sure. Theyre probably working on that render bug.

My problem with the step edit is, when entering notes Tracktion steps forward a whole bar per note

no ... it steps forward according to the current note length setting ... you can change this in the MIDI toolbar ...
