1)Anyone using such a thing in their car? How is it hooked up to the car stereo system?

2) Any recommendations on which box to get?
I use IPOD 2nd generation in the car, gym, flights, etc. In the car I have a stereo with aux in so I just connect a cable to the IPOD, in this way I get the best quality.

Reasons to use IPOD:

1) Great sound quality
2) You can run Linux on it: http://www.ipodlinux.org/Main_Page
Sometimes, do the wrong thing

there is only one reason to use an iPod and that reason is iTunes.
otherwise , you'll get more bang for your buck elsewhere.
When someone figures out a hack to use iTunes with other players (seamlessly!!!) the floodgates will open :-)

A mate of mine has one of the iRiver range which looks the mutt's nuts. Does DivX and WMV on top of mp3, WMA and Ogg Vorbis (I think).
