one vote for the mixer.
those that dont want it can ignore it.
please produce something similar to a mixer with vol, pan, m,s and all the usual stuff.
there are a billion people in here waiting for this feature!!!!
please.

anything that helps someone 'envisage' their tunes is good, whether a conventional mixer or a performance tool like NAS is building.
personally i like not being constrained by a mixer so wouldn't use it but all power to him for having a go. I'm also on a bit of SM trip at the mo so the more varied projects there are around, the more for me to pick apart and plunder.
NAS: I've been playing with the GUI stuff in SM (ok, taking the ableton knob osm and dicking around with the numbers..
) and am sure it's possible to create a fully graphic mixing environment, spatial placement of tracks etc. Time to play some more...

Go ahead, make your mixer. I am sure some people find it usedfull.
Personally I would go for the multi ins/outs, different EQ styles etc. And make it double float precission.
I don't think you should put much care to the people that say nay. What right do they have to say what you should or should not do?

Personally, with T2 attracting a new user base due to it's HUGE exposure, I think a mixer would help attract/retain those people who are used to using old school sequencers (Cubase et al) but are a bit phased, initially, by Tracktions mixer-less Paradigm. Good on you sir, and I hope you get the support you deserve.

Bad english language
Hello,
I've created many mixers for T.
But I must be "honest" :
- negative
Use a vst mixer in T is use more CPU,
Use a vst mixer in T is to have many connections to do in racks,
Use a vst mixer in T is maybe deny to discover another way. So, deny the unknow way is sometimes the piece of evidence of petty minds. Maybe, I'm a petty mind, I don't know.
But, I try to use and understand the T way. Really. Why not ?
- positive
Use a vst mixer in T is more easy for old users of sequencers as me (classic global view),
Use a vst mixer in T is more easy for old users of real mixers as me (my mixers come from my Soundcraft mixer)
Use a vst mixer in T is more simple for send effects...

I will say this again for calrity, If you want a conventional mixer setup either go with Daniels or the earlier Tracktion mixer from TF, What i am building would be almost an effect and not a conventional mixer.
The mixers i have already mentioned are great but are not the type of mixer i am talking of, I think maybe GaryG is starting to get where i am coming from.
The best bet is if i build a mock and we start from there, One thing i did want to achieve though (And have already) is a better algo for balance on stereo tracks, The current way is crap but the better way has two lines of extra code so although not noticable CPU wise on a single channel, Probably would be noticable on a hundred channels (Although i have used it on thirty and windows CPU meter was so small a difference it may have been anything.
I am like PHZ in the sense of i have never been happier with a host and don't miss having a mixer one bit (Got rid of my hardware mixer about five years before T even came out
)
I don't like any hardware anymore and i dont really like replication of harware, What i am talking of never existed in hardware as far as i can tell.
I'm talking crossfaders between tracks LFOs all kinds of mad crap that just doesn't get done because people are too interested in creating a better anologue synth or a cleaner reverb or whatever.
From that last sentence you may also gather that this has no intention of being the cleanest anologue representation ever heard or whatever its just SIMPLY ABOUT DOING SOMETHING I DO ALL THE TIME WITH MY HANDS WHILE I'M MIXING ON THE TURNTABLES.
LIVE REMIXING
Cheers for all the input guys and what i will do is a replacement for the standard T Vol+Pan so that you can have the new type of pan (If EQ is wanted i will look at that also)
But i still stick to what i said if you want a conventional mixer do one of these
1 Download a mixer like Daniels and use that
2 Assign CCs to the T vol+pan and either download a CC surface for vst or make one in SE MSP whatever
Now out of these two the second one will use a lot less CPU but wont have all the features, I can however when building a replacement vol+pan build in aux and so on so let me know.
The replacement vol+pan is no work as it is a simple version of what i'm actually trying to achieve.
Over the next couple of years i want to try and create a lot of addons for T so that i can use it like two things
1 Acid
2 A groovebox
Please dont think i dont like the way T works i love it, i'm just trying to explore other ways of working in T.
I hope this has cleared up the confusion and given an incite into the things i want to try and achieve
PS The stuff i'm building isn't just for T but it is my host and the host of all my current Beta testers so its here first and everyone else second

now ... that sounds MUCH more interesting than what your original post seemed to imply (i think that between your message and various interpretations of it (from me included) there was much misunderstanding) ...
... anything that increases the OPTIONAL versatility and effectiveness of T has got to be a good thing in my book (especially if it pushes it into areas not yet covered that users might otherwise use another app for ... like live work which seems to me now where youre going ??? ) ...

It's really not that simple, I've used all of the mixers around. Workflow is always interrupted trying to figure out the mixer's connections.pHz wrote: hook one up in a rack and save it as a rack preset ... only needs setting up once then ...
(but i STILL dont really understand the ill-use-tracktion-DESPITE-it-not-having-a-conventional-mixer attitude TBH)
And I've bought cars that have an automatic transmission when I really would've rather had a manual, because I liked everything else about the car, and I could work with the auto tranny while still wishing for a manual. That's about how T is for me. I work without a mixer while wishing for one, because I like everything else about it. Get it?
