Hey
I use to export whole edits for backuping purposes (as files in a folder)
does T render those files or just copy the old ones (meaning the ones used in the project) in a new folder???

The edits contain no WAV data, just "clips" and Tracktion's own MIDI files. The clips are only pointers to WAV files.multree wrote:Hey

you're missing out on what multree's doing there frippz!
by exporting the whole edit he means creating an archive of the edit - one of the nicest features of T.

In which case lossless OGG compression of all existing audio files (2:1) is the default backup format, I think? The settings are in the export dialog. I'm pretty sure nothing is re-rendered in the process...haydxn wrote:by exporting the whole edit he means creating an archive of the edit - one of the nicest features of T.

yeah, on export you are presented with the options on how you wish the audio to be stored, so you can't miss anything and do it wrong.
lossless is FLAC, lossy is ogg, and 1:1 is wav. disco!

yup that's what I'm talking about
I usually have thousands of edits in a single project and once I'm satisfied with one single edit.... I open it and export it as files in a folder for backup purposses on DVD....
I avoid archives for bigger/important projects since I once had a corrupted archive where the edit was missing as were some wav files
