The same project made in T1, playd in T2 is moore cpu hungry..
Im trying to finish some tracks this week in T2, that ive been working on in T1. On some projects it takes 6-7 seconds of loading time for every moove. Also when playing some songs, the sound cuts for a second at every track inn/start point.. at about 55% cpu usage.
Were doing a net release this week, so I need figure out this asap! Clues? Am I better of using T1?

hmmmnnn ... youre on MAC ... its generally accepted that on PC at least T2 is SLIGHTLY more CPU hungry than T1 but not hugely so ...
... cant remember seeing many other MAC users talk about CPU usage ... sorry ...

well, I dont have the fastest mac in the universe, heheh! Hmm.. bump!
Every time the cursor gets mooved or a zoom is done, the osx cpu meter jumps from 50% to 100%, resulting in T2 laging or freezing a few seconds, while T2s cpu meter stands steadily at 30% during the whole process.
Clues? My head is bleading...

I have the clip start problem only with certain vstis... wierd. also the slow moves - I try to stay zoomed in. Both problems are better w/T1.

The T1 projects i opened with T2, so far showed less CPU load, which i find quite impressing
(PC, not MAC).

If you haven't already, delete all the meter filters on your tracks. Should speed things up, and they're really not that useful (IMO).

I'm using a Dual 2.0 G5, so it's hard for me to compare to your situation. But T2 runs fine on my machine (not surprisingly)... I'm not experiencing any noticeable slowdown. Runs about the same as T1... 10.3.9... What audio interface are you using? Ram?? I have 2.5 gigs... I'm using a Echo Gina 3G! My template loads 16 tracks, with an eq and volume on each... I do mostly midi, though... 3-4 tracks of audio loops and shots... I know T2 is slower on a G4 though from what I've heard... maybe it's my skin??

hmmm I'm on a dual 2g G5 as well but have some gui response issues - I'm on 10.3.8 though... maybe I'll move to 10.3.9 and see what happens....

MT: Never thought about that, will try! Already I use no vst effects, and only mono on the VST instruments, which is a couple of imposcar and albinos, and a few of Ts sampler. The rest is wav.
DHR53: I use a novation X-station as sound card, but now im running on the native soundcard in the powerbook, to see if it might save some cpu! I have 1G of ram. The disk is @ 4200rpm, that might be the problem!!! Its a Powerbook 867.
Im using laptops, and because of that, I will move over to Wintel now. Especialy after the Mactel news, Ill wait a few years and see what theyr coocking up laptopwise. For now it seems obious, the fastest PM centrino is about 3 times faster (ableton live tests) then the fastest powerbook. And youl get a 7200rpm disk, powerbooks are still not there. Along with T, Live is my favorite tool, so it all points at that direction.

If you want to use a laptop... PC is the way to go! Unless your one of those people who thinks "aesthetics" is more important than performance!

p.s. ...I think that's the real reason for the switch to intel chips! The G5 powerbook was going to be too much of an engineering problem!!
