hello everybody,
unfortunately the problems i had with T1 weren't addressed with T2 (namely clip automation, decent dual monitor support); in the end I concluded you get what you pay for.
I was wrong. I have been trying to get cubase working for hours and hours now. At every corner, I keep thinking, that's stupid. Everyone keeps recommending it, and logic, to me. I don't understand why.
Steinberg might claim I'm a retard and that its not rocket science. I have a first degree in theoretical physics, and I swear I still don't get it.
Tell me everyone, am I welcome to return to tracktion, home, the prodigal musician?

'course you can come back to tracktion. at the end of the day it's just much easier to work with, regardless of whether or not a few features have made their way in yet.

yes where cubase may have meny extra bits its a real flow cramper when it comes to making music!

there is no feature steinberg could add to cubase, that would tempt me to use it again...

I wonder how many people in this forum are ex-Steinbergers.....
One of the reasons I get a little tired of the Tracktion gripes is that I used Cubase before this and know that Tracktion is very much on the right tracks. Its UI is unbeatable. The extra features we all want will be added over time to the excellent core program, so I can see myself using Tracktion for a long time.

T is cool and intuitive, but it still lacks a lot of features, which are essential for larger projects and therefore for productivity.
And please, don't compare Logic and Cubase. Logic has a steep learning curve and can't be 'tried out'. It takes ages, until you've set it up and learned your keycommands, but once you're done, it's extremely fast.

The logic 'Basic Production' template is really easy to get started on. It's when you start to do complex stuff with it that I find it is hard to understand, like the Environment. Trying to get my UC-33e to work with it made me swear off Logic altogether. It just shouldn't be that difficult.

I loaded CubaseSX and Tracktion at the same time ..tried to transfer a project into cubase and had trouble.. tried T1.. It worked like a charm and I never opened cubase again.. T for me....T still needs a few things yet but its closer..

slow gui on large edits (on my fast machine) is for me the *only* hindrance to productivity in T2. Even so I work about twice as fast in T2 than I did in DP.

I've said it many times but, when I first got Cubase 5, it took me almost a week to figure out why the metronome wasnt synced right. I also have very close friends who use Logic and they had to read through litteraly HUNDREDS of pages to set up their systems and many of them still had to get tech support after that. In contrast, I was making music with Tracktion within 10 minutes.
