Yeah, that's not good.

Just to be sure I loaded the sample track "Gare du Nord" (spelling?) I deleted all the non-midi tracks and kept copy/pasting the chord track with the jx-10, reverb, and EQ until I hit 50 tracks.

I could still manuver very easily. No lock ups at all. My CPU couldnt handle all the polyphony of course but with end to end enabled I could still move the cursor and place the playback anywhere aswell as zoom in and out pretty fast.

Hmmm... well, this is not even half of what I would usually put in a track, so if it's going slow now... I can imagine it's going to get a lot slower? I'll have to check on those eq's... they don't seem to add much of hit, usually... But this is not a composition that would demand freezing at this point... End-to-end has to be on to hear the instruments, right? ...Time for a new template I guess

what my system doesn't like is drawing the midi tracks...

Regardless of method, having that many EQ plugs shouldn't cause beach balls with a Powermac that size.

Tracktion may just not be as efficient on the Mac?

Im running an old AthalonXP, Ive tried to stay out of this as much as possible, Jules and (to some extent) the Mackie crew have worked hard for us. I hate that bash either Mackie or Traction or other users.....so anyway......

T2 seems to be pretty stable, Its never crashed EVER on my Athalon 2000+ w/256 ram, but the load T2 puts on my cpu is always at least 25% more than with T1.

Today I was mixing a song with probably 17 audio tracks. I probably had at least some sort of plug on I'd say 12 of them. I can play and mix the song, but the cpu runs about 70%, then if I try to skip ahead the cpu instantly goes to red.

I have not frozen any tracks at this point (I know it would help), and I open the exact mix in T1 and the CPU never gets abouve 50%. I havent done anything fancy with my color scheme or anything.

Like I said earlier, I dont like bashing, especially of the people who bring us great audio production software, but I think for now T1 will be my host of choice.
