Just Loaded Up Traction 2...Need Help Please

Hello all. I received and loaded up Traction 2 today and have been having a hard time recording anything via my M-Audio midi keyboard. Granted MIDI setups/settings are not my strong point-but I've read the manual a few times and it tends to gloss over things-such as how to operate the software-and hence I'm a bit lost. I feel sort of stupid because it's supposed to be an "easy" program to get around. Anyone know where I can get more in depth, step by step info on setting up my audio/midi settings ,and then actually doing some recording with this program? I have actually briefly been able to get my midi keyboard to trigger sounds when I'm in a preset song example so I think I'm close, but I've been unable to load any sounds, samples, plugins to record my own projects. Any good books out there. Any help would be appreciated.Once I get the midi part down, I'll tackle using my Guitar Port for audio tracks. I don't think that will be as tricky as midi and once I get the basics down I should be set.Thanks. Johhny M

First off, what are you trying to trigger with MIDI? Are you sure T2 can find your VST instruments folder?
Have you looked on the settings page to make sure your soundcard MIDI input is active?
If you can't even load plugins, either something is horribly wrong with your computer and/or installation, the plugins were all rejected by Tracktion (look for the list of rejects on the plugins page in settings), or you just have't added the pathway to your plugins folder.

I wasn't actually able to see how to bring sounds into the track until I viewed the video on the Mackie site. Like I said, this is all new to me, and the users guide doesnt go very deep at all. Just looking for resources for more in depth-"how to" info. Thanks for the reply though. I'm now unable to open my Sampletank SE sounds due to some serial number issue...and the fun just never ends!

I agree about the manual. It is, in my opinion, incomplete. But...more on that later (in a different thread).
Good luck,
Dave
