I know everyone thinks Arts Acoustic is the best  , but what are some other suggestions for an affordable vst algo reverb (no Power Core or Waves suites, please).

I've tried the AA demo and I like it, but it didn't just grab me by the sack and make me need to buy it for $180. I'm interested in trying alternatives around that price or less.

Thanks much,
Dave

I can't see myself spending over $100 for any VST FX. When the Princeton verb hits 50, it will be an offer I can't refuse. This reverb is insane...

I'd love to hear the wizoo verb, and it's around $200. It's semi-algo, or algo-plus, I guess. I bet it's great.

Roomverb from spinaudio is also right around that price.

I'm sure there are others . . . oh, Wave Arts MasterVerb is under $200. There's a couple anyhow.

R66 is now cheaper 149$ or 119 Euro, I think.

Ugh - why does Princeton appeal? I admit the gui is simple and effective. It sounds good, because it's eq'd dark and the level is abnormally low. Even cheesy cheap reverbs can sound good when eq'd dark and set lower enough so you don't hear the resonances in the reverb tail. But PACE - that puts me right off, sorry. Deal breaker right there. Gotta love AAR - and next, R66.

Lately I've just been using the "eVerb" plugin that comes with DP. probably doesn't help you any though.

greendoor,

like several people have said on several threads here, the PACE protection that's used in princeton is not the sucky key / device driver type that has raised lots of complaints... but a less sucky c/r scheme that doesn't install any drivers and doesn't affect the stability of the computer. it's just made by the same PACE company.

Oh yeah. :dog:

Ambience!!!! and it's free/donationware!

apple matrix verb that comes with osx is a hidden gem... altho it seems that more and more people are starting to find it really useful.

I'm sorry but "less sucky" challenge/response scheme doesn't do it for me. If I buy a piece of hardware, I expect to be able to plug it in in 10 years time and still use it. If I buy some software, I expect to be able to still use it in 10 years time. I'm still using Microsoft Office 1997 by the way. I do not want to find that in 2015 I can't authenticate my software on the internet. Why should I be cheated if I chose to buy my software? The crack user who gets a copy of PACE "protected" software will be able to use it in 2015 - why shouldn't I?????

yeah, c/r isn't a totally good alternative either even it's better than the driver thing... unfortunately, lots of companies from ni to ableton seem to use c/r instead of a simple serial that would be the ideal solution.

it's your choice of course. i was just trying to make it clear that the copy protection isn't PACE in the meaning it's usually referred to but a bit less sucky solution by the same company. but you seem to know that already so sorry.

try the essential bundle from spinaudio: it has roomverb m1 incuded which is quite nice (and uses the same basic algorithm as rommverb m2). The bundle is 100 USD (and it has other nice stuff).

Then, there are very good free alternatives: glaceverb is soundwise imo almost in pair with aar (but it lacks its flexibility).
ambience is flexible but you have to make a little (not much) compromise in sound.
And, if you wanto to go for convolution, make sure to check SIR.
If you don't mind spening a little money, try also Voxnego Pristine Space light. It is also convolution, but is introduces only very little latency and it sounds al little better than SIR.

best, drjee

the Princeton StereoROom is the only algo verb that sounds superb at 100% wet settings when inserted (not send)

I like the sound very much...

and don't be so sure to be able to use software you buy now in 10 years time when the company goes out of business even with a simple serial.... nothing's sure in softwareland

I have to agree with Greendoor on the Princeton verb. It's a nice verb, but for my needs the AA has my attention. As for the Pace implimentation on Princeton, it doesn't have me concerned since it's a simple C/R protection. Princeton's use of Pace's copy protection has been over reacted to by most in my opinion. :? Although, Greendoor doesn't seem to like it, which is fine. :D

Now I am waiting for AA to have a Group Buy. I'll jump immediately since I know that they will definitely make their numbers for lowest price.

Come on AA, get the GB started, I'll buy in. :hihi:
