No, I meant the employment thing... do you not have an ongoing contract with your school?

It's region-to-region. In my area, you get a contract with your school board, and no I don't have the right kind of contract. This year I spent most of the year doing what's referred to as an EOT, basically covering a maternity leave. Now I'm back on the supply teaching list. Supply teaching can still be fairly lucrative ($150 a day isn't shabby) but you're never sure when your shifts are going to come along. Since I'm still paying hundreds of dollars a month in various bills, it doesn't get me very far and I live week-to-week still.
*grumble*
When I DO get the 'right' kind of contract, I get a lot of job security. Not total security when you're at the bottom of the seniority list, but at least you start gaining seniority. Once a year or two of new hires comes along, you're pretty secure unless you eff up.
Problem is... nobody seems to want English teachers right now. Science, Math, and French are the main areas being hired, along with Special Education. I don't have my Spec Ed certification yet, and it's a catch-22 because I can't afford to get it right now. So I can't afford to get it, but I'm having a tricky time finding a job without it. *grumble*
I'm not very savvy... I'm sure I could have taken a different path and been a lot better off for it by now.

Agree with jalapeno!
Not the exact wording, but i´m a bit annoyed too. I do want the same options as the US customers. Step up to the plate Mackie!

I was only being whimsical regarding Nerherding, having watched The Empire Strikes Back just the day before.m00ndancer wrote:Agree with jalapeno!

But yes - Mackie are big on talk and small on action. Not impressed.
