Doubt it....but if it did, that'd be cool!

i'm not sure myself but there's only one way to find out, i guess - try it!
try recording the midi input to see if it recieves the dump. T's midi editor can definitely let you edit/create sysex messages, so i presume it's capable of recording them too. try it and have a peek! to play it back i'd make sure the track was routed to the correct midi output port first, then play it out thru that to the hardware. i'm not sure if T keeps all sysex word for word so i don't know if it'd work properly.. but- try it
and let us know!

Kick, punch, it's all in the mind.

Yes, I tried to simply do a MIDI record while my sound module was doing a sysex dump, but Tracktion didn't seem to recognize that anything had been received. That's why I thought maybe you need to do something special to enable recording of sysex content.

Tracktion can record sysex, but I think there is currently a length limit which can screw some things up..

I'm glad to hear that you think it is possible to record sysex in Tracktion. Please elaborate the steps needed to make this happen. I have tried a standard MIDI record while dumping from my sound module, but Tracktion acts as if no information has been received.

No need to do anything special afaik: just record the MIDI input to a clip as normal.. the sysex events will only be visible if you show the controllers lane and select 'sysex' from the list (they show up as little dots: select them and you can edit the string in the properties panel)

I think if I was doing an update to firmware I would make darn sure it was working before I made the official attempt. You can screw some gear up with a failed update.

Point taken. I'll be doing the sysex dump first, so that if anything does go base over apex I can at least restore the factory presets ( ugh )
Coffee please, black, no sugar.
