I hope my order is not too tall. I want to be able to get the 'trill" sound out of a santur (which is like a hammered dulcimer)which is acheived with 2 mallets on one string when playing the actual instrument. I spoke to Luigi who seems to be a really nice guy but did not have a solution for me. It would seem that somebody's software could achieve this. It is a common expression of the instruments playing. Like a timpani roll for instance. I just got some timpani samples and there is a roll sample included. Its a common expressive way the instrument is played. This is why I figure that someone has a santur/dulcimer sample or instrument setup out there somewhere that would achieve this.

well...you could program a MIDI arpegiator, like in EnergyXT to do rapid 16th notes and any notes you play would have that stricking action.But it may not sound natural.

Another thing to do is het a controller with bigger pads( like the akai and I think m-audio just put one out..or get a used MP7.) and use sticks on it. I use my MP7 for this and works well.

Thanks for the quick reply. I did think of this suggestion. But thats a $200.00 idea. Why(and this may sound kind of bitchy) would the instrument not include this expressive style in the presets? I just got some timpani sounds and a roll sound was included because the instrument is so often played that way. I'm not downing the Knagalis. I'm just wondering who has something that will work where I don't have to needlessly spend $200.00. This style of expression with the santur/dulcimer is just as prevalent in music as a timpani roll is. Do you see what I mean? [/quote]

We´re a sample supplier for Dash and EMM Knagalis and actually we have a hammered Dulcimer in our archive. It´s a multisample with close intervals and it works quite good. We call it "repeat attack", and it´s only one of the several Dulcimer attack variations. The others are "hard", "soft" and "plucked".

I´ll ask Luigi for this issue. Perhaps we should think about an EMM Knagalis add-on and consider some more instruments. Any other instrument on your wishlist?

i think some strings sound could be very good.
It could make some unique sound with a doublebass, or cello, or plucked or more etnics strings...( sorry for my very bad language

We call it "repeat attack", and it´s only one of the several Dulcimer attack variations. The others are "hard", "soft" and "plucked".

Certainly this, and damstraversaz´s hints too, will be considered when a further EMM content discussion is on the schedule, but this is not yet. So the best is that you always keep your eyes open here for an announcement.
