Am i missing something?

If i have one midi track outputting to a virtual midi device, that device then feeds back into a second track which feeds a sampler, i cant seem to render and get any sound although i see that the levels meter on the second track is a getting the audio out of the sampler and i'm hearing things as i should be.
Track freeze doesnt seem to work in that situation either - which kind of makes sense i guess.
Any suggestions?
thanks

oh - theres something between the output to the virtual midi device (takes a midi signal in and spits a modified form out). That feeds into the second track which then feeds the sampler inserted as a filter on that track.
I've recorded on the second track the output of the midi device, but the recorded midi output doesnt actually seem to produce the same results as the direct output feeding the sampler directly (its a multi chanel midi that is produced).
But the thing is, when set up as described, its actually producing sound that i hear, and that is reflected in the level meter for that track so things are going through traction in real time. Its only on rendering that nothing is appearing in the wave file.

See that was as close as i got to something working - but unfortunately, whatever it records doesnt seem to produce the same audio coming out of the sampler.
So, i'm just curious as to why i can hear it, see it in the level meters and yet it renders as nothing.
Obviously something like tapeit or an audio loopback device might work but would be nice to figure it out otherwise.

have you tried putting a blank midi clip on the track you want to render?

Just did. That didn't work either. Is it because tracktion has no midi or audio on that track that it would be not rendering it at all?

No Midi.
No audio.
No render.
Think I saw that on a sign somewhere...
But a blank midi clip is a 'midi' object and T should render. At least it does here.
