You can not only make it stop slowly, but also make it start slowly. For example goto http://www.cafepress.com/tonborecords.15503509 and listen to the voice in the beginning of my track's sample "No Future".
Eventually something intelligent will appear written here. Watch this space.

Hey listen to intro of The Flaming Lips song "Yoshimi Battles the Pink Robots Pt. 1" for a good idea of what tape stopping noises can do for a track. The acoustic guitar strums the chord a few times then quickly slows [that's a funny combination of words] to a stop before coming back in for a few more then doing it again. Tapestop can do just this.
I'm sorry this post wasn't about techno.

I used Laidbacker on a feisty tone and it seemed to add high end . . .mandolarian wrote:It chills the feisty tone. Subtle, with a delicate aftertaste that approaches the experience of $5000.00 audiophile speaker cables, but without the self-doubt and long-winded junk science.
I try to care and understand.

This is significant. I must pursue this myself. Maybe I'll think I thought it sounded less like more of what I remembered it sounding like before I remembered what I thought I used to think it sounded like.
I like this plug!

Did you hear it working? If, yes, then something is wrong.
Or right. Your excited emoticon outburst is worrying tho, not very laidback.

No, I've accepted that I only "perceived" that I thought it was working, thus experiencing "reality", though at the quantum level, there was no measurable laidback-ing actually going on. The actual quoutient of laidback-ing is undefinable and this is akin to a sonic form of Xeno's Paradox, but one only musicians can't actually hear---everyone else can hear it.mandolarian wrote:Did you hear it working? and I LOVE Tapestop... sure, it may at first seem like you don't hear it much in songs, but you're thinking, IMHO, about it wrong... I feel that in addition to being a great little effect for odds and ends in SONGS... it mainly works wonders in the world of strange effects for Video work and with the mangling of other sounds, then maybe reintroduced back into a more 'normal,' song... it does really weird and great things to industrial samples ... anyway, anything that adds another texture to my sound arsenal is a fantastic gift in my book... I know the original poster didn't mean anything mean, but there's lots and lots of different musical and sound creation styles out there...

I'm just used to such outstandingly useful plugs coming from this mysterious Daniel Lind who, like a generous, fabled traveler from exotic lands, freely distributes awesome sound shaping devices. I was a little disappointed that TapeStop was as quirky a plug as it turns out to be.
