Adding a plugin in tracktion-im a n00b

Click 'n Drag the Filter Box (up there in the top righthand corner) Drag it onto a track in the 'filter section' of the track on the right, where the meters hang out. Then select the effect / instrument du jour from the menu. Repeat as required.
You can also drag a filter onto a audio clip. Click 'n Drag is fun! Try it.

Or do you mean *adding* a plugin to Tracktion's pool?
Put the dll-file of your plugin into the "plugins" folder of Tracktion (usually located in \Program Files\Tracktion\plugins)
Then do a rescan of the plugins under settings/plugins. There you can find a button with two sub-entries, one of them called "just look for plugins that are new or have changed".
There you go! After this procedure you can use your new plugin as described by mandolarian!
