I will upgrade to Win XP when I get my new system, not before. For those of us who build and upgrade our own systems, WinXP and its activation system is not ideal. I'm not going to take the chance that I will have to buy two copies of WinXP. Currently, win98 support is the only reason I have not bought T2, and I'm not the only one. At least Jules is working on it, so he recognizes the need, even if some of you don't. Hey, people are still making music on Atari ST's.

Try Win2k then. Seriously, it's a lot more stable and you don't have the activation crap of XP. Plus you can actually get support from developers.

I would if music was the only thing I did on my system, but win98 is the best choice for my particular needs at the moment. I'm not bitching, I'll use my Cubase 5 until it gets sorted out. but my Tracktion purchase will be shelved until I either have a new comp. or w98 support gets added.

OK, OK - enough of the "Me too" sarcasm. LOL - I think we all get the point - even if it's not a very convincing point.
For those of us who have a fully stable, working Win98 system, where everything just works, why would we want to 'sidegrade' to another OS and have to reinstall everything, wrestle with the quirks of XP and its services, upgrade the hardware to run the software, get XP versions of drivers, hardware support, etc etc etc - and all for NO improvement? It's very hard to improve something that works perfectly well? The ONLY benefit from upgrading would be the ability to run T2, and as Jules is working on Win98 support, then there is NO reason to change.
So - enough of the attempted funny replies, with each poster trying to out-silly the previous one. I'm restraining myself from asking when support for the Abacus and didgeridoo will be available...
For now, I'm just going to wait patiently until Win98 support appears, and use T1 in the meantime. It's working perfectly well, and I can't remember the last time my Win98 system crashed.

I have no need to get into the corporate inspired obsolesence/upgrade arms race.

It's not the price - it's all the hassles of doing a wipe clean, install from scratch, then reinstall everything, etc etc etc...... for no improvement on a perfectly-working system.

I totally understand the reluctance to upgrade and if it works for you, why do it, I agree. But you also have to deal with the limitations of developers limiting or stopping support for your system

The problem with sticking with a legacy OS is simply that in the long run keeping the damn thing working gets to be harder than the one off pain of upgrading.
I tend to be a luddite when it comes to MS OSes - I only last week made the switch from 2k to XPSP2 - and it'll be a clear five years before I jump ship to Longwait, but eventually lack of driver upgrades, compatible components, security holes unpatched, just make staying put too much pain.

I would have switched to XP a long time ago if my recording card had drivers for it. I have 12-in 16-out capability and a rock solid system running 98se. I'd be looking at over $600 for hardware to give me the exact same capabilites that I have now. I just can't justify it. It makes my upgrade to T2 rather expensive. I don't think there is another person here that would pay over $600 just to upgrade to T2. This doesn't even fit with the spirit of the whole Tracktion concept.
Jules has stated that the only reason that T2 won't run under 98se is because they had to add unicode support for XP. It seems from other posts that some of the work to get around unicode has already been done. It would be nice to have a working patch to install T2 under 98se before the upgrade offer expires at the end of next month (July).
