I have to agree, this is a pretty sad state of affairs.
If you have requests for Korg VST features or changes, they are listening at https://support.korguser.net/hc/en-us/requests/new

Glad they put us out of our misery at least.
Parochial is the word - Mackie are simply incompetent numpties at international software sales & distribution.
That is all.

It's quite maddening really.
£125 or thereabouts ... not bad ...
(although the lack of overseas rebate (or not) IS an issue i agree)

Confusion abounds - This is on the Mackie support Forum
here

Do these guys know what they are doing ?Hey guys,
We apologize for the delay, but rest assured - plans are still in the works. There are many more logistics to deal with than we originally anticipated, and though I'm not directly involved in the plans, I can say for certain that we're getting closer. Hang in there!

Well lets see ... on the one hand we have loads of posts from mackie saying they're working on an international upgrade offer, including a recent post on the mackie forum ...
on the other hand we have a post by some guy who quotes a mackie response he received in email, where he doesn't post what the question was, and he could easily have made it up ....
eg, here's an email i received from mackie recently
And .... relax

So there we go, proof if proof were needed, that it's all in hand.Don't worry chico, the international upgrade offer is being worked on, and will be sorted just as soon as we can, if anyone thinks differently, be sure to tell them they've got the wrong end of the stick

Well..... Actually there was nothing new from Mackie since a month ago when i wrote the mail. And Mackie hadn't answered on their own support forum for days. There was only people asking for answers in that thread. Justin wrote after my mail which is BTW here (First the answer, then my own mail):chico.co.uk wrote:and he could easily have made it up ....
As a Tracktion 1 and maybe some day T2 customer i have no reasons to try to get people from buying T2. I just think that a lot of us on the forum is frustrated because no one knows whats going on due to the lack of information. I simply wanted to share the information that i got.Hello H*****,
Unfortunately, there are no plans to offer the upgrade path at this time. The
best place to monitor any updates or changes is the Tracktion website or your
my.mackie account. If you have any other questions, let me know. Take care.

I just wanted to know if you are planning an upgrade path that includes the plug
ins, for the non-US Tracktion users?
With best regards

Please understand that both due to the difference in our distribution chain and laws outside the US it is impossible for us to provide the same kind of upgrade rebate we offered in the US.
Everything takes longer for Europe we have just started shipping T2 from our distrabution center in Rotterdam in the past few weeks, so the retail boxed version should be reaching dealers through out Europe. In most other parts of the world it is up to our distributor (which is typically an independent company) to order T2 for sale in their market - we are working with them to make this happen but it can take some time.
We are also working on both a bonus program for T1 owners when they buy T2 at retail and looking into the possibly of selling a upgrade boxed version that would require a current registration for it to be authorized that can be sold retail but this is at best a few months off due to development and distribution issues. As of now we can not give you a date for these but we are working to get them out as soon as possible.
Keep in mind that it took Apple more than a year to get the itunes stores in Europe the differences in laws and distribution does make this much more complicated.
We are grateful for the user support that Tracktion has outside the US and are working hard to support you.

Distribution could as well be made available for musicstores in the US to sell to other countries. Limiting them is very very bad. And an exception should have been made. This as I se it are self inflicted difficulties.kpbpsw wrote:Please understand that both due to the difference in our distribution chain and laws outside the US it is impossible for us to provide the same kind of upgrade rebate we offered in the US.
All new users and NFR users that want to buy the full version that dont care about the rebate.
There are large differences in the iTunes example.

A better would be the Tiger distribution, and hey wait, that was available from day one.
Tracktion does not have to deal with multiple instances of copyright law owned by big music companies.
Im sorry about ranting but this was about the stupdidest example I have read, and it really made me angry. There is a HUGE difference.
Maybe you are putting your efforts on the wrong places then? Maybe you should take a look on what you are working on and perhaps make a better solution. We are grateful for the user support that Tracktion has outside the US and are working hard to support you.

The non US tracktion user base are getting increasingly upset. The world does not consist of US alone.
I've been recomending Tracktion to a lot of ppl, and I just cant give them a good answer on why they cant buy it when its out.
These ppl (just as me) are in the software bisniss, and know about distributing software.
This is unbearable, please optimize your routines so that this never ever happens again.[/quote]

I personally think it would have been way better for Mackie to have concentrated on only including thier own native plugs and kept T2 a download-only product. They could have easily charged $129 or something and kept all the money, and all users everywhere would have T2 by now. They still could have bundled it with their hardware and have a print advertising campaign. They could have even shipped CD demos off to music stores ala AOL for perople who would never have found it on the web. To be purchased and unlocked online.
As it stands, if you are in Nepal (for example) with a great internet connection, you can't buy T2 since there isn't a Guitar Center in your neighborhood
Face it, the bundled plugs aren't that great and definitely not worth the hassle IMO. Many users have better alternative plugs anyway. Anyone who wanted T1 could get it easily. Not so for T2. I definitely don't see this as progress.
