BR: Continuing trouble with time sig and tempo

Tracktion routinely forgets time signature and tempo.
It's crippling, because I keep forgetting to double check time/tempo after I reopen edits...
Am I the only one with this problem?
I rewire Reason into T most of the time, which may add to the confusion.

never happened to me..
I don't use rewire though. What do you mean by 'forget?'
you on a pc or mac?

I'm on PC. I mean forget, like get it wrong.
I'm working on a couple of songs right now, one is 4/4 90 bpm, and the other is 100 bmp 15/8.
The 15/8 one ALWAYS starts up as 15/4, and if I forget to change it before recording or editing things can get pretty corny...
The 90 bmp one often changes from 90 to 100 bpm. Don't know why.
I am aware of this, and look at tempo and time sig before I save. Sometimes I forget to double check when I open songs though...
Of course, rewire is tricky - sometimes Tracktion follows the song I open in Reason, and sometimes the opposite is true. But I don't care how tricky it is, it's supposed to work. Both T2 and R3 are official releases I paid for...

This smells to me like a rewire problem.. you could be the only Reason user that uses anything other than 4/4!
What happens if you open these edits without Reason? Have you noticed at what point the tempo changes?

so, you save it with 15/8, but when you re-open it its set to 15/4? Weird!Hovmod wrote:Not sure about the tempo, but the 15/8 file opens in 15/4 without Reason...
Have you got somewhere to upload an archive? It would be interesting to see how it imported on another machine.. I can't replicate the problem here at the moment.

OK, thanks. I'll make some arrangements when I get back. I'm going three or four days offshore now, Tracktion free...
I'll think of a way to isolate the problem.

Hey Hovmod,
I've been trying to reproduce this without success. If you are able to supply a reproduceable method or an archive that always does it that would be great.

OK - but it seems to me the easiest way to do it is to create an edit, set it to 15/8, save and close and then reopen it
I'll see if I can make a simple archive to upload that does this.
I'm not making this up.
This morning I opened a 100 bpm song that opened as 90 bpm, and when I set it to 100 again all the different audio clips repositioned themselves so I had to spend a lot of time putting stuff back in the right places.
I'm frustrated, but I'm also a bit cold towards it, because while I'm currently beta testing several apps and plugs, I'm NOT beta testing Tracktion. I expect it to work properly, because it's a paid for official release, and not a rushed one either... Time and tempo are fairly basic stuff. I will help troubleshoot, but somehow this feels just like beta testing
There. Outburst over.
I'm at work. I'l upload files later this evening, I hope. If I can make it not work.

Can't reproduce Hovmods problem but there is something strange about the way the snap resolution changes as you zoom in if set to 15/8 - i.e. bar -> 1 tick -> beat -> half beat -> quarter beat etc.

While this is being investigated, under the timecode menu, untick "remap clip positions when tempo is changed" before changing the tempo, and see if that helps.Hovmod wrote: This morning I opened a 100 bpm song that opened as 90 bpm, and when I set it to 100 again all the different audio clips repositioned themselves so I had to spend a lot of time putting stuff back in the right places.
Note - I'm not saying this resolves your issue, or is a complete solution, i'm just suggesting this might save you having to "put stuff back in the right places" when you have to change the tempo. A little workaround that may save you some work.
