Reading the manual, I got Battery 2 going and made my drum beat with no problem. Now it's mix time, and I need to get more complex. I went to the NI forums, but they are very dead.

I have a seperate MIDI channel for the kick, snare and hats. Each have their own cell in Battery. I'd like to now layer drums. I know you can add the sample into the existing cell..like drop an 808 in the existing kick cell, but can you set it up so that you can give the 808 it's own cell ad have it trigger to hit w/ the kick instead? That way I can blend each sounds volume, and effects using Tracktion and plugins instead. Is there a certain way you have to map to the MIDI key maybe? I am stuck here, and this one should be pretty easy I'd think.

In battery 2 its super easy to layer cells. You either select the cell and adjust the "RNG" (range) in the Cell control tab. For example the first cell is usually set to C1-C1, so if you set the second cell with the 808 to C1-C1, it will be triggered at the same time.

But the easiest way is to just select the cell, and hit the "learn" button in the cell-control tab. Next just hit the key you on your controller. So if you want any cell to be layered with C1 (first cell) for example, just select the next cell, hit learn, and now play C1 on your midi controller. It will automatically be mapped to that key.

ok cool..i thought it was like that..for some reason the way i was doing it, it made the 808 sound high pitched and cut off..so i was messing something up...ill try doing it the "learn" way...thanks man.
