And I'm looking forward to see Komplexer (Terratec) out. Can hardly wait...
Eventually something intelligent will appear written here. Watch this space.

I can't be stuffed with midi cables and audio cables, losing my zero noisefloor and sample accurate timing ... So considering I don't actually need the steel box, the power supply or the a/d/a converters, I think the new 'hardware' could be a cheap USB box with a non-copyable ROM.
I think that's basically what the Varios is. I don't think it shows up as a vst though.
Sounds like the Novation Total Integration synth.

I still prefer open standard software though... I like Korg's approach with the MS20 controller: you don't need it to use the software, but it's well integrated - only downside being it's knobs aren't motorised.

Well, I just wish AT&T would partner with someone to put their Text To Speech program (aka Natural Voices) into an affordable VSTi.

I did a song using it (they have a web site where you can type in text and download wav files of it speaking the text) but when I inquired about the legality of posting the song, it being non-commercial and all that . . . they told me I could as long as their voice synth wasn't a significant part of the song, and since my song uses it as the only vocal, they said I'd need a lisense.

How much? Well the developers kit costs $295 but if I want to "distribute the intellectual property" meaning either copies of the speach engine or audio derived from it, I'd need a Runtime lisense, which only costs $7.50 each. BUT YOU NEED TO PURCHASE 200 MINIMUM . . . $1,500!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

What a bunch of lame . . . well, I'll spare you the invectives.

One cool products between Yamaha and Steinberg is the Studio Manager which is supposed to allow Total Recall for projects involving SX3 and various outboard gear. Right now, I'm back and forth with tech support betwen Yamaha for my Yamaha Motif Es Rack and Steinberg for the SX3 side. The Total Recall aspect does work, but this union has the most bizarre side effects I've ever witnessed in terms of stuck midi notes, weird melodies playing that I never programmed, huge blasts of noise when opening projects with Total Recall, and situations where one of these problems temporarily disables my computer keyboard until I minimize, then restore Cubase. Until then, none of the keys on the computer keyboard work at all. So yes, it's possibly a good thing. I'm hoping that Yamaha will be concerned about Cubase's unquinchable thirst for system resources.

I've heard that Walmart and McDonald's will release an employee of the month VST plug in. It will complement the Studio manager and display their pictures on our favorite host and we will be able to order fries (and napkins) with it. :hihi:

This is kinda spooky. It is like we are discussing "what if Gearge Lucas start to make movies"

Have we just gone into some timewarp. Big companies making VST. WOW. unthinkable.

I am just stupid. No no, Roland NI, Garritan, Spectrasonics etc are all just small fry. It can not be. I am dreaming. Time is not passing. Time is really going backwards. No. Time can not go backwards. It must come backwards. Or should that be come forward and go backwards. No. It must be move forward and creep backwards. No. This IS creepy.

Big companies will ruin everything. They take your identity, your individuality, your money and your soul. All good and original ideas will be flushed down the toilet to never be seen again. SELL SELL SELL. GOTTA MAKE THAT BUCK. Soon we all wil be working for Sony and the lot. U might even work for them already without knowing it.
