Man, those synth horns are very 80's. The arp layers in the background are too cool for 80's though.

Don't really know much about this style of music - not qualified to critique it - I just know that I don't know how to make it. I do recall hearing this kind of stuff thumping out of nearly every boy-racer car while spending 6 weeks or so in Sweden in 2000.

The break at 1:10 - perfect attention grabber. Nice intro/outro as well.

You don't really feel that way do you hovmod? I wouldn't mind at least trying a deal to see if this is the way it made me feel in the end; figuratively of course.

I liked this track, but the vocals hint like the whole track was put through a tempo stretch algorithm to speed it up to fit it into 2 minutes, but the fade out says no.


guido scognamiglio - noisy town

The supreme ruler of free vsti and killer drum soundfonts shows up with a very strong track. This one is my fave so far. Where is the clav from Guido - have you been hiding one on us? Bass is tight as well.


donkey Tugger - Timberlake

dt shows he can compose stuff other than killer indie-pop.


katanaman - an open letter to the man

punk doesn't show up here often, but katanaman has it.


barnadine - love strikes

What a refreshing mix of sounds. I love the sweet vocals on top of Jimmy Eat World guitars, and then the banjo - brilliant. Terribly hopeless lyrics - glad the little break was there to keep the smile going with the instruction to keep going.


m'snah aka hansm - popstar

liked this one but the claps wore on me. The choral stuff at the intro and outro hint at Mr. Bean.


mchlwlsn - Jongleur

Might want to change the tags to reflect your artist name. I would like to hear this one again with less depth on the chorus on the guitar. Playing sounds pretty precise, but the deep modulation on the chorus makes it seems less so.

I would have liked some variation on the bass line and the cicada like lead - like that guitar at the end- drop that here and there throughout the track.

thanks rockstar_not. trouble is i can't create to order, i never know what's happening - usually i just randomly hit a chord, or a couple of notes, see what my mind thinks could follow on, and so on until finally there's a track that i somehow managed to write . perhaps the soundtrack to my own biopic?

Yes! I mean, no! I mean, well, maybe, but also a celebration of the grubbier side of love. After a week listening to commercial radio, I was getting a bit tired of hearing about love as this anaemic and idealised whippet full of oceans and stars and ethereal foreverness. Real love gets its hands dirty. Hooray!

But like I said in my review of Loser, when the words are in your face, they take your focus away from the music. That's why I usually prefer songs with meaningless words, or a language I don't understand (Sigur Ros has a huge advantage there). Only the most accomplished poets can get away with a song lyric, and there's only one Tom Waits...

Anyway, I don't really feel like this about record deals (well, maybe... Frank Zappa has conditioned me to be cautious), and this isn't really my style of music either. I just thought I'd try to stand out in a month where I expected a lot of RnB and HipHop.

FYI, back in 2000, I spent an entire day in Vejle DK, sunny all day - so I can vouch that there is at least one place in DK where the sun shines for extended periods of time. Actually, it was a couple of days - the other day we were there we took the kiddies to, you guessed it, nearby Legoland. It was mostly sunny that day as well. September 2000.

There was a festival going on that weekend called 'Vejle at night' or 'Vejle by night', and there was a killer band playing with a female bass player/lead singer. Kind of Cranberries sounding - very interesting stuff. I continually kick myself for not hanging around longer and getting the name of the band at least.

I tried to keep it interesting with a double length (excuse my French) verse over the sequence.
